    Default French first empire

    He people,

I've been reading alot about Napoleon these last few days. And i kinda want to recreate his empire. And his army type. Even though its a different age, what units would you use as a replacement for the gaurd. Any other idea's about what provinces i should annex and vassalize to create a similar empire as that of Napoleon would be gratefull.

    regards,

    Rory

Rory the Voulgiers are probably your best bet supported by Gendarmes and arquebusiers

Don't give up! - Build up your empire ready =]

You could do a medieval style of this by setting Spain Portugal and England allies from the start, then having France invade Spain, and Russia - taking over most of central Europe also.

Should be fun for ya - and challenging!

Well I use Elite level Gendarmes and Lancers as "Guard Cavalry", certain Elite units of Voulgiers, Dismounted Noble Knights and Hospitallers as "Guard Infantry". Decent late era arty is a must. Plenty of cannon fodder Light Men at arms , Sergeant Spearmen and Pike men along with Feudal Knights round out my typical Late Era armies.
