    Default Expected localised string 'generic_repair'

    Hello, I use the stripped down mod folder, and i'm adding a new culture "europe_du_nord". But my game crash just after the launch of the bat file.

    The entries have to be in export_buildings.txt and you have to make sure you delete the strings.bin version.

    When you have a building entry in export_descr_buildings.txt it then looks in export_buildings for the text description that shows up in game. For every building in export_descr_buildings you need entries in export_buildings.txt.

    The repair entries are there for when buildings get damaged either by event or battle, so you have to have those as well as building descriptions.

    The way I understand it, the game will look for the generic entries first as they are nowhere in the EDB. Simply put them in the same order as I did in my other post. Put {generic_repair} in the first line followed by the other 5 lines. If you want to be very sure copy\paste the lines with the special character before that. (See my example in the above post)

    Filefront doesn't like me (servers busy, error). I think it must be my Indian ISP. I am not at my machine anyhow, wouldn't be able to run it. I checked the whole thread again and would like to say the following:
    Expected localised string 'generic_repair'
    This indicates to me that the game is looking for this entry at a particular place.
    1. Did you put the entries at the beginning as discussed earlier?
    2. Did you delete the export_buildings.string.bin file?
    3. Are you still getting the same error as in the quote?

    First impressions:
    1. RGB in descr_regions doesn't agree with RGB value in map_regions.
    2. RGB value for the settlement in descr_region is wrong. Correct 255 255 255
    3. Export_buildings: put the {generic_repair} section BEFORE {generic_dismantle} - That was question 1!
    4. RGB value in map_heights is water! No landmass! No city possible! CTD! Replace with 1 1 1
    5. RGB value in map_ground_types is for water! Replace with valid value, take care not to use "impassable terrain" like mountains.

    That's it for starters. Apply the changes where applicable and run another log.

    The map was working before I add the culture, and is still working when I don't add the export_buildings in the text folder.

    Looking at the files also...

    When you put export_buildings.txt in the Text folder, does the game generate a .txt.strings.bin file after running it? If it doesn't this could be a problem since it obviously won't find that line, and every subsequent one, because the .txt.strings.bin is the file it reads. In the log file it says:

    In and of itself, that isn't an error, but if that doesn't cause it to be generated, it might be causing an issue.

    I'm also curious about this text about the {generic_repair}, does anyone actually know what it does or are there just wide assumptions about it. Obviously it has something to do with repair, but you never see it in-game, it has no culture specifications, and it isn't a building in export_descr_buildings.txt like all of the others. If it was required text it seems strange alpaca would have removed it from his stripped down mod folder. Actually though, after DLing his mod folder, it seems he doesn't even have the file export_buildings.txt :hmmm:. Some other lines that meet that criteria I've found:

    Also, something else I noticed, may or may not be relevant. You don't have a export_desc_building_enums.txt file in your folder, could it be it's looking for this file, because "generic_repair" is the first line in that file, and maybe if the game detects export_descr_buildings.txt or export_buildings.txt or both, it demands this file be present in the same directory area. This file could be something that the maker of the cultures tutorial overlooked, certainly possible considering it was made over a year ago...

    Lucifer got it right (I think so) with mentioning the enums file. I am getting old and should have thought about that. It would have been a bit clearer if I had the chance to compare it with my mod folders.
    A thought about those repair and upgrade lines: One would have expected these files in the tooltips file as they seem to pop up when you mouse over them (or am I wrong again?). But then the 'generic' might have prompted the programmers to put in the buildings file.

    That is all the text in your export_buildings.txt without the brackets and the description, so it should function... hopefully. I tried it and couldn't get it to work, but something tells me it has something to do with the mod folder setup or similar on my end, if yours still doesn't work, that could potentially be your issue.

    After looking for 20 minutes or so through all the data and data/text files, well, skimming, haven't found any further files that would seem to dictate building affairs, or have a "generic_repair" line. I did find one in a previous pass through, but don't think it was missing or relevant.

    If none of this works, the error says "localised", maybe it is some issue with the French version of the game, being used with an English mod folder, as in localization rather than a local file? Or along the same lines, maybe the file looks different in the french base folder, you should try a compare, I don't see why it would be, but you never know with CA...

    Admittedly I don't look at the first half of the error log often, if it isn't unspecified I usually jump right to the file ... so good to know.

    Hopefully the above fix solves it, if not I'm unsure what to say about the matter .

    P.S. I had actually gone about solving the problem, then (Using Alpaca's stripped down folder) realized I needed another faction, so I followed DukeOfSerbia's Guide to Adding Factions from Nothing, changing all files applicable to me (I have Text folder, so I haven't changed any in-game text), and now this problem has come back to haunt me

    Oh yes, and the Log in the spoiler is only a partial section of my System.log....the actual one would have made your PC implode...trust me, mine almost did
