Campaign CTD
Hi all, I'm back here again for more help.
I've added a new faction to the game and everything works fine except the grand campaign. I can play the faction in custom battle alright, but when I try to start a campaign, it crashes once it finishes loading. The system.log doesn't say anything useful. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Probably a missing entry in one of the descriptions files like expanded.txt. Did you follow one of the tutorials? Does it crash to the menu or you get a true CTD?

Yeah I followed DukeofSerbia's tutorial. And the game crashes to desktop, literally. I'll go have a look around the description files then, though I'm not sure that's the case.

Do you have the trace option set in your cfg file?
I am not special - I am a limited edition.

My guess:
1. descr_strat (no settlement, incorrect entry - unlikely)
2. descr_character (omitted entry for a character - possible) or
3. descr_model_strat (wrong or omitted texture - less possible)
The error log would obviously be a big help to take the guess work out.

I tried putting the trace option in the .cfg but it has never worked for me, dunno why. The log simply does not get created, unless maybe I've been looking for it in the wrong folder all this time... It's supposed to be in M2TW\logs, right?
Before this I did have a few errors in descr_strat, descr_character and descr_model_strat, but the system.log pointed me to those without problem. Now it just says that an unspecified error occurred. Looks like I need to get the trace option working somehow.

Put this in your .cfg file, change the word Barebones to whatever you named your mod.
Code:[log] to=logs/Barebones.system.log.txt level=*script* trace

Ah, so it's [log] and not [feature]? Okay, I will try that now.
Edit: Hm, it did give me a few error reports which I fixed, but still no luck with the crashing. Any idea if it might be an error in the text folder, like with names.txt or something? I think that's the last place I haven't thoroughly purged for code errors...

It could be. Errors in the text folder do cause CTDs frequently. Look for bad brackets, they always get me. Usually when I find an error there I have a ( instead of a {
