Re: Honorary titles for the Hall of Fame - Nominations
1. The Lost Expedition (SeniorBatavianHorse)
My foray into AARs was partly inspired by this story. Luckily despite SBH's abundant historical detail, epic storyline and high tragedy, I can at least take comfort in the fact that my AAR contains more jokes.
2. IBFD - AAR Roman-British (SeniorBatavianHorse)
SBH has a real skill for narrative AARs, they read like novels. This is the tale of a Tribune of cavalry fighting against the Saxons and Picts after the withdrawal of the last legions from Britannia. It is absolutely packed with historical detail and vocabulary. Reading this is an uncanny experience for me since I am currently writing an AAR myself in the same setting (although I haven't yet spotted his narrator in my own story).
3. Imperator! (M.CorneliusMarcellus)
I must also mention MCM's Imperator!, reposted from the now defunct RTR forums. It is a hugely impressive work with a solid story and much high-quality artwork. I still don't understand how he does it. Even with my new machine, I can't get anything even approaching the quality of his screenshots.
The Wasteland (Artaserse/Obelics) - not nominated
I just had to list this, even though it doesn't qualify for nomination. I think it may be the funniest AAR of all time. It was originally posted at the old RTR forums, but transferred to the ORG (where Artaserse goes under the name Obelics) when the RTR forums went down.
