its probably to early to tell
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Wouldn't mind seeing Medieval or Rome done again with the Empire engine. Especially with all caps being bumped up (faction, unit, map size, etc.).
Knowledge is Power - English Proverb
*Shoves onto a sharp stake* You take that back!
Anyway... It'll be interesting to see how this works out. As proven by history, firearms brought about a HUGE change in warfare, the massed armies squaring off on the fields just don't work anymore. You gotta learn to manouvre properly, outflank and overwhelm the enemy. Me? I'll stick to Stainless Steel![]()
Hope so....
Soylent Green is people!!!
you cant know that that feature has been removed
Medieval 2 SS on Empire engine would be so cool.
Or maybe just a Stainless Steel mod for Empire - forgetting the medieval side and simply doing the amazing work it did for this game - for Empire![]()
It'd be too much work to make Medieval for empire - and most of the new features would be useless bar Naval battles...
Stainless Steel should be made for that era imo, besides - if a mod were to be made on Empire - it's likely all the votes would go for The Third Age mod![]()
With you all the way
Except I think it might be quite difficult. (Slightly controversial?) A lot of the mods for M2TW address people's hankering to play with "cool" (ie mostly fantasy) medieval units. The medieval era allows for more "excuseable" diversity in the units whereas in the Enlightenment there should be less scope for this. I'd argue that even in the Medieval time there was much more homogeneity amongst Western armies than diversity, just different emphasis. But anyway....
Given that roughly similar quality muskets, bayonets, artillery and cavalry types are available to most, the later period is much more about how well you use those assets available.
Empire:TW is still many months away from being released.
Plenty of scope for modding M2:TW and kingdoms yet.
As for modding Empire:TW a lot will depend on how open CA/SEGA are about how the game works. I presume they won't give too much away to begin with as they don't want rivals reverse -engineering it.
However they are also aware that the modding community keeps interest in a game alive after the initial excitement of release - so expect mods to be announced after people get stuck into it.
Also depends on how much of the game engine is really new, how much is hard-coded, what they are going to give people to play with.
A lot also depends on how buggy the game is, what patches are needed. If it is really buggy a lot of modders might wait until it works properly before trying to mod it. Others might see that as a challenge! (And bugs can help reveal how a game works and generate interest in on-line forums - who'd log onto one if the game worked perfectly?)
As much as I loved all Total War games, I will not be purchasing Empire Total War. 2000 men trying to kill each other with only guns is not attractive at all.
Oh! Oh! Let's flank the enemy with our riflemen! Since the enemy can defend the bullets from the front but not the side or back!!
"If we didn't have cruxifixion, this country'd be in a right bloody mess"
They didnt make MTW2 easy to mod an i gotta agree with Rozanov...
if they goin to make more profit by not letting people being able to mod.. that way when they pull out a half made crappy expansion like kingdoms for MTW2 they get more profit...
If they arent gonna tell how much they will allow modders to work on there game then im not even gonna buy it... only after a year maybe when they completed the game with patches like with MTW2
