    Default Computer Restarts

    Hello

Firstly, I bought the game (MII:TW) about this time last week, having never played it before ... and I still haven't. When going into the 'playing' part of the game my computer will systematically restart. Everything before then (i.e. the menus and videos/animations) runs fine. I've tried the lowest settings and all the patches.

    Any help is appreciated.

That's an odd number for memory. Are you using a laptop?

    No, I just have a 512mb stick and a 256mb stick.

I think you'd be better off if the memory matched. Processors and the way they handle their executions maybe overloading the 256mb stick and that would restart your computer.

What software is running when you play the game?

So with less than a gig of ram on the lowest settings you think it wouldn't even run at all? Wouldn't that be false minimum requirements or something?

Nothing is running apart from the game. And I don't think it has anything to do with over heating because my graphics card has a new fan on it and I've tried it while the case was open.

Have you tried Reinstalling? I assume you have.

Umm, Probably something to do with your drivers... try getting updates for all your gear.

No, everything else runs fine. I haven't run a MemTest, will do later today. Nothing is overclocked, would doing that help?

My experience, overclocking causes more problems including memory errors.

I just tried the game on another computer similar to mine (Except it has a 128mb graphics card and a slower processor), and it worked (i.e. it didn't restart). Would this mean that it most likely a driver issue?

You should be a bit more specific. When does it restart, for example? If your computer has a 128MB graphics card, then performance will definitely suffer though, especially with a processor that you say is even slower.

    Sorry for being unclear.

I choose a game option from the menu (Tutorial, Grand Campaign, Quick Battle etc.) then wait for any cinematics to play, then seconds into the actual playing of the game it will restart.

With my last post what I was trying to say was I tried it on a computer with 128mb vid card and a 1.6Ghz processor, and it didn't restart, yet it restarts on my computer, which has a 256mb card and 2.0Ghz processor.

Have you tried it with nothing on your harddrive but the operating system and the game? That would eliminate a lot of possibilities.

The problem may lie in the power supply. Your computer will be drawing more power playing this game, and your power supply may not be able to supply it.
