The break was great thanks, guys. Spent time camping in the South West of England with friends and family at a Christian conference known as "New Wine" - listening to inspiring talks, swept up in great worship. Fantastic.

quite a few religious folks on this mod. i can count three that i know off..

I'm not religious - that word stinks to me....it speaks of cold conformity to a set of rules.

I have a living faith in Jesus that I hope informs the choices I make, and I'm part of a vibrant faith community that is looking to be good news in many ways to those around us.

A kindred spirit, and I agree wholeheartedly. The Pharisees were 'religious'...in the same vain as the 'shove it down your throat' religious people I have known in my life who know every word of the Bible seemingly by heart...but not the One who inspired it. The Bible is their 'god'....a 'song' that was written for another purpose, too which they have never understood the 'tune'.

I know so many people who have been driven away from Christ because of 'religious' people...it's very sad. Whenever I have spoken of Jesus to these people, my favorite story is of the sinner who threw himself on the Temple floor and pleaded 'Lord, forgive me, for I am nothing but a sinner'.....and of the Pharisee who stood proudly near him boasting about all the laws he had kept, and how glad he was he wasn't like the guy on the floor!

I tell them, "I'm the guy on the floor". But I know people confuse being 'religious' with being 'spiritual' and mean no harm. It's just that nowadays, the world is too overwhelmed with 'religion' and too underwhelmed by the Spirit.
