    Default Can't run IB

    Hi all

    I just tried to run IB romae ruin on my gold edition, but the game said, it couldn't open some sound data or something. Is this because I use a German version?

    I installed IBFD 7.03, enabled the 4tdy script and installed the SOUNDMOD-Revolutions Enhancement Pack 2, too.


    Anyone know what the problem might be?

    Have you tried re-downloading and re-installing? Sometimes the download is corrupted and you need to do it again!

    I had some trouble with IB and the german gold version.
    But it was a long time ago and I dont remember what it was.
    I am just writing this to confirm that this could be the problem.

    Try redownloading and reinstalling in a clean folder.
    You couldn't get your hands on a non-gold BI?

    Thanks for the advice, it's working now (reinstalled and left out the soundmod).

    But...

    Now there are some new problems/issues...

    Firstly, though I've turned off the advisor in the campaign menu before starting a game, she (the advisor) constantly appears on the screen, with "Invasio barbarorum script" in her speech bubble. This happens all the time, and is somewhat annoying. Did I miss something, or how can I turn it off.


    Also, starting with the Alemannis, I found I had way too many units at the beginning, anyone know why this is so? At this rate, I'll be broke within 3 turns...


    Then, I really like the look of things with this mod, the Goths really pillaging Rome an' all, but - does anyone know if this is a really challenging campaign? I like to play the Alemannis, but in vanilla everything was so easy (as most here will well know). Now in this scenario I start with two settlements instead of one... which doesn't mean anything, anyway, does someone know if the difficulty and preferably also the AI has been upped in this mod?


    Finally: what are those scripts (4tpy etc) for, and what other mods or submods should I use with this?


    Sorry to pose so many questions, but I'm just struggling with the fact that I'm certain this game could be a ton of fun, if only I could realize the mode how I'd like to play it (I like desperate battles for survival ).

    So, thanks for taking the time to read this, and any help'd be greatly appreciated.

    The adviser pops up so you can click on her to activate scripts. These authentic actual late Roman events and make the mod more historically accurate!

    Yes, you will be broke - how you deal with that is part of the fun. Do you disband units? Sack towns? Make alliances?

    The various script options allow different things - you must activate them to make them work. I can't remember now but I think IBFD 7.03 is by default script active and 2 turns per year? You can deactivate the script option and also change to 4 tpy for a more realistic campaign time-wise. But I am not sure!

    I would try re-installing IB without the SOUNDMOD enhancement Pack first to see if it loads properly.

    The problem may be due to the Enhancement Pack in relation to some sound files.

    See how that goes.
