Default Why won't it show the unit card?

    Hi there.

I added a barbarian unit to my faction.
Added ownership, recruitement, a texture and a unit card, and everything worked fine...
I could see a unit card and description in the campaign.
Then I had to go back to by backup export_descr_unit and ever since this newly aded unit does not show a unit card any more.
Which is strange because the unit card files are still in the same places.

Can anybody help me on this?
    Thanks in advance.

Has the name of the unit changed at all in the EDU? Thats the only thing that would throw off the unit cards. Do you see a grey peasant card instead? If so double check the EDU entry.

Hi Hannibal Smith, thanks for helping again.
Yes, I get the rebel peasant.

I have no idea what went wrong here.
I added a few other units and they work fine.
So it is not some hardcoled limit.

The only thing that I changed in EDU is the ownership of that unit.
And that is as it should be.

I went through the same steps as when adding any unit, to find the trouble.

Edit: I double checked the name of the entry in EDU and the name of the card files. Exactly the same.

Its definately something to do with the name. or where youve placed the unit card. You say you have changed ownership of the unit, so have you also changed the location of the unit card to match?

EDIT: Got to sign out for a while, but your problem is with one of those things. Check everything if your using a mod folder (which if your not I would suggest that you should be) make sure your spelt the names of the folders correctly, things like merc and mercs. If you cant get it sorted I suggest you post your edu entry and the path that you have put the U-cards in. A fresh pair of eyes might spot something you havent. Good luck

    Thanks for your suggestions.
But the name in EDU and the name and location of the card files are as they should be.
    Really strange.
    Heres the file entry.

And the info_card file. The other one is just the same, and it doesn't show card and info_card.

Anybody have a fresh pair of eyes?

Are u doing this from within a modfolder? If yes, you will need to pack your new UI in order to show up, otherwise the game will read the .pak files.

EDIt: My bad it's a merc!

You need to place the UI cards in the mercenary folder becasue you indicated that the unit is a mercenary one.

AND THE WINNER IS... julianus heraclius! As always.
That's why I love the guy.

Removing the mercenary_unit attribute did the job.

    Thank you very much julianus.
Now I can have crappy german peasants when playing the romans, which I somehow like.

Is it a problem that I'm crossing the 100 units per faction limit?

as julianus says you can keep this unit as a merc just put the unit cards in the merc/mercs folder. Glad you sorted it though

    Yes. I eventually did that.
I don't really know wht happens when that unit is not a merc.
    Woudn't risk a CTD.

What is the difference between the merc/mercs folders?

    Anyway, I apreciate your helping.

I mentioned mercs/merc because is UNIT_INFO the folder is MERC while in UNITS the folder is MERCS. Dont know why they are different, but they have caught may people out (including me)
