Sibrand,

Highland units can only be recruited in the highlands, feudal units can only be recruited in the lowlands and outside Scotland. If the Clans take non-highland regions they are able to recruit feudal units there.

City growth is deliberately limited in certain regions for historical accuracy. Some highland settlements are restricted to villages. If you want big cities and castles you will have to conquer regions that allow them.

One of the main features of the mod is to separate the highlands and lowlands into distinct cultural regions.

Sounds like a vista unpacking issue. The installation instructions provide links to threads where this is discussed. We don't have vista so we can't help you further if this is the case.

It doesn't work for me. there is no descr_geography_new files in my copy file of kingdomofthescots. when i start the game, the photo appears and suddenly black screen comes with error sound

what should I do?

If there were no geography files in your kingdomofthescots folder it sounds like you did not unpack a copy of the british_isles folder before you installed over it. If it was unpacked properly then the files would be there.

The installation procedure above works perfectly with XP for me.

The Bruce- why you keep asking if a person has vista ?


i have vista and the game and all mods i have in my pc never gave me any error


and the supposed ''uncompatible drives problem'' doesn't apply in my case, and i just download every windows vista upgrade(s)

Swagger, I ask people if they have Vista because unpacking with Vista is the biggest cause of install problems that we have seen. Because we don't have Vista it is also the one thing we have the least knowledge about. We know the install procedure works perfectly with XP. I am delighted you have never had any problems so you don't need to upgrade to XP.

Game works well but, in the game words are not seen in the cities, in the menu ,etc.

what should i do?

4. If you have not unpacked your main MTW2 data folder you will need to add two folders to it. Inside the kingdomofthescots folder are two zip files.
Extract text.zip and ui.zip and copy/paste both the text and the ui folder into your Medieval II Total War\data folder. This will not affect your vanilla MTW2 game.

You must add the text and UI folder from the zip files inside kingdomofthescots to your main MTW2\data folder if you have not unpacked the main game. If your MTW2\data folder does not contain these folders then it has not been unpacked. Use the folders inside text.zip and ui.zip.

You can avoid a lot of problems if you tick mark the option in the installer "Vista: install for all users". I think it is in the third tab (if you are using the installer from Clickteam)

the bruce- again, i unpacked my med2tw, and all the kingdoms stuff, and they work perfectly, the unpacker unpacked everything, without any problem

Swagger, its really great that you report you have had no problems (again) but this thread is for people who do have problems. Vista users have frequently reported unpacking problems. Saying you have not had problems is not exactly useful to those that have.

Oh, the text files problem solved itself.
Turned out that my HDD was full and thus the unpacker couldn't extract the fiels.

the bruce- most problems are caused by people, not the pc itself (bugs and errors), after 1 years, and tons of updates im 100% sure, the best technicians in the world would fix all (true) vista stuff

vista is different, becouse you have to permit all pc changes (install stuff, delete, change etc) but that doesn't makes a game to crash, or anything like that

if you want i can help you about vista

like, helping with installing in vista, and other ''vista problems''

I'm having the same problem as Amir, there isn't any geography files in my kingdomofthescots files.
