Some of my most memorable moments in Total War would have to be in Medieval and Shogun. So I decided to post this thread here.

The first time I won a battle in MTW while heavily outnumbered. It was an experience like none other....especially when you consider that I'm honestly not a very good field tactician.
I was defending as the Spanish in Cordoba with a motley force (commanded by my king) of around 450 men , and was attacked by an Almohad army of around 1250 troops, which was personally led by the Caliph Yusif himself. I was fortunate, however, in that I was able to position my troops in a corner of the map at the top of a long hill with heavy woods at its crown.
Fighting raged across the hill for what seemed like hours (but I'm sure wasn't more than 20-30 minutes in reality). My men were exhausted, the front line (consisting of two understrength companies of vanilla spearmen) was wavering, and my flanking counterattacks had been rebuffed. Things looked very grim, and I prepared to die.
Finally, right around when I was sure I was going to have to sound a general retreat, the Caliph suddenly exposed his back to my forces with no one but his personal bodyguards around him. It was in that moment that King Alphonso -- who'd been holding himself and his knights in reserve for a last, desperate assault -- emerged from the woods and charged into the rear of Yusif's guards. They were quickly cut down, and shortly afterwards Alphonso relieved the Caliph of his head.
The shock of their leader's death, combined with my Jinnettes launching a renewed assault on the enemy's flanks, finally broke the Almohads. Slowly at first, but with increasing speed, the Almos fled down the hill in disarray, with the Jinnettes and the king's knights chasing them the whole way.
That was one of those great battles where you're hands are sweating, you're so nervous about the outcome. It still sticks with me now, even after all these years.

Mine would have to be the same sort of story. MMM would be my hundred and fifty men or so fending off a massive Crusading army. Its in the AAR section of M2TW (cuz there isn't one here), under the name dawn battle in North Palestine, but it ain't very popular.
STW MMM would be the easiness at maxing out your troops, and how they totally own after that. it took me about 20 turns to get maxed out everything as the Mori
Mine is on the Campaign map:
My very first 60% win. As the al Mohads I had conquered the whole of N.Africa and round the Middle East and surrounding the Black Sea. I'd also spread up into the Iberian Peninsula.
I decided it was time for the Pope to go so I was setting up an invasion from Tunis when the message popped up.Like a budding MTW player I sat back satisfied with my "victory".
But since then I have decided this game is about more than conquering-there are plans to hatch and fulfill, great tasks to be performed...I should have gone on to defeat the Pope. 60 % was too small a prize.
The first time I had a rebellion (and I mean like Star Wars scale) in the Middle East, North Africa, and all the way into France.
BTW, I was playing as the Italians and I had reestablished the Roman Empire.
Also, most of the rebellions consisted of 1000 or more troops.
And at the last, I fought every single one of them and won; except for Palestine, which I crushed a year later with 10000 troops from Italy.
It is when Hojo sent three (!) geisha girls and they killed all my Shimazu family in just two turns.
'If I am unrighteous, why does God not stop me?'
When as the Byzantine's I had reached the 60% mark, but a few turns later my Emperor died. This doesn't sound like not a big deal, but somehow all his heirs had died and my empire erupted into civil war. However, I just reloaded the game and made sure the Emperor survived to aviod that how more than half the world rips its goverment to pieces.
Mine was as the Hojo clan defending a bridge from a huge opposing army.
It was gripping seeing my staunch defenders hold of wave after wave whilst the archers peppered just behind. It made me fall in Love with the game from that point, and i have been a total war series lover since.
The other time was my first castle defence.................we all remember them too yeah?
A little maiming never hurt anybody
In Medieval: Total War in my second campaign. Played with Spain. After fighting in the Iberian Penisula and Africa (went to Egypt, lulz), I decided to check out what's up in Europe. I were quite surprised, seeing Germans humiliated (that was neat) and Danes having a big chunk of Europe south of the actual Denmark. They seemed to be the most powerful nation ^^
