Question about phalanxes?

Hey I'm back to playing this mod... I forgot how great it was. Redfox its really great. Looks beautiful.
Couple things though.

1. It crashes randomly. I would be more specific but i never really know what could be the problem it happens at random times.

2. Are the Roman Hastati and Principes supposed to like obliterate my phalanxes? ( Playing as the Epirus )

3. this doesn't really matter but you know the loading screen with the picture of the colosume is that from the gladiator?

I don't know if you remember me Redfox but i used to ask a lot of questions back in the day ( like couple months ago )

Hi again, The Slav, long time no see.

First things first - random crashes: I rarely stumble upon these crashes, so this is why this Beta version has been released. If you have the latest patch installed and have started a new campaign, then describing the event of the crash would help - which faction's turn, what year..

Hastati and Principes will always beat your phalanx in hand to hand combat. Romans are excellent swordsmen and nothing you do can change that - Pikemen with their daggers aren't much of a challenge. To win against Romans, you need a solid - very solid line of pikes, that won't get breached. Then you need cavalry and lots of support troops. Anvil and Hammer is the only tactic here - don't consider Deuteroi (Medium Levy Pikemen) as a top of the line soldier - they can hold a pike line, but won't put up a decent fight, so only think of pikemen as an anvil to smash into with your hammer.
