I don't think its optional or non-optional. By that I mean you have to download and install it separately from the main XGM build. And thanks Dime, I can't wait to play it.

Dime isn't including XC in 5.8. But the current build of 5.8 is compatible with the current builds of XC.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

This idea maybe for XGM 6, What do you think about Res Gestae MOD's map which most part of Sahara and deep Central Asia which many people complain a lot have been cut off but expand into India and a bit of Scandinavia as well as add Mauryan Empire in India?

I'd rather use the faction slot for something else and frankly expanding into india is not very historical except for baktria and maybe parthia...

Playing 5.8 (doesn't feel like a Beta) - 50 years in to a Roman campaign and 35 years into a Thracian one - Loyalty On - no CTD's - everything going fine.

Playing on M/H I had a 1/2 stack army bribed away from me by the Indie Greeks - nice (haven't seen that for a while) - they have also assassinated 2 of my family members - I couldn't be more pleased

Ugh, assassin spam has killed my two best generals in a Syracusian campaign: my revenge was not pretty. Well, it was for me. I'm also having no problems with 5.8.

I like assassin spam - it forces you to pay more attention to the strat map agent side of the game. I once had a general named "Alexander the Great" who was assassinated a couple of turns after achieving greatness - ever since then I've been careful keep my top generals well guarded.

I haven't seen any problems with 5.8 either, so I'll be releasing a non-beta version shortly. The only changes will be some minor updates from Suppanut.

    Sweet, non-beta 5.8 homing in.

I, too, have yet to encounter any problems. This is officially the most trouble-free beta I've ever played.

Always send 4 spies and 2 assassins with any army you send against the enemy, is my opinion. I've never got one of my generals killed.

Usually I try to send a couple of forward assassins and a spy with armies but with Syracuse with my first army I couldn't really afford to. Money was tight at first and I kinda forgot about them until my generals were killed within a few turns of each other.

Okay, I keep getting a CTD without any error message when I attempt to assault Corinth as the GCS.

At first I thought it was a mistake in my modded files, so I reinstalled completely and tried again. Same thing.

Then I thought maybe it was Alexander itself, so I deleted everything XGM, reinstalled Alexander, then reinstalled XGM. Same CTD.

Then I tried reinstalling XGM on BI. Same CTD again.

Edit: The above occurred with the 5.8 beta. I'm gonna try 5.8.0 and see what happens then.

When does the CTD occur? As the battle loads, or after it's over?

It occurs at the loading screen (sorry, I don't know why I didn't mention that earlier). Upgrading to 5.8.0 also didn't stop it.

Seems to be working OK for me.

Are you sure it's not a problem with your original RTW files (when the game runs it uses the original RTW files in the main data folder + the files in the xgm/data folder). You may need to re-install and re-patch RTW.
