Default The Merchants' Guild is really threatening me

Apparently it is a bad thing if you meet a bunch of merchants and they become impressed with you. :hmmm: Here's the proof.

"Why is it a bad thing" you ask? Well, maybe because if they're impressed with you it means they want to take your money. My guess anyway, but go figure and tell me if you come up with a better explanation to this strange phenomenon.

I'm wondering if you have already done one of their missions, and therefore been given "the merchants guild will be impressed with you" and therefore you will lose this good impression if you do not cooperate?

What's annoying is that if they're going to give you gold for doing a mission, it's only ever 100 florins (in my experience). Cheap capitalist pigs.

agree completely, so stupid. I never do those kinds of missions. Most likely you don't have a merchant that can even do it. Why waste your mechants?

Or when the pope kindly decides you deserve 500 florins for being pious. Throw it on the pile with the other 10,000 then, popey...

No kidding, especially considering all the money I send the pope's way on any given game.

yh 100 is pathetic, and it will always ask u 2 out trade someone with like 8-10 skill which makes it even more stupid!

Yeah. Or when you spend huge amounts of money soldiers and time on a crusade at the other end of the world and the pope "acknowledges your contribution to the crusade with a reward of 500 dinarii". What a cheap arse weasel!

Friend Wizzer there is a small tip about the crusades
Just before you attack the city that is a crusade target move all your generals outside your cities and join them in the crusade. If the crusade is accompliced then more money will be rewarded and almost all units that joined the crusade armies get experience. But beware there are 2 issues 1)be sure that you are ready to attack the specific settlement in the same turn so you don't have the desertion message and also you can instantly move your armies inside the cities again(some settlements will be red with no garrison inside).2)Also be sure that you will not fail to capture the crusade target in the same turn

    1) you can move your armies outside the cities, join the crusade/jihad, then back in, they can be inside a city while crusading/jihad-ing

    2) you have 1 turn until your troops start to desert, so you can join crusade/jihad, click end turn (get your free upkeep of 1 turn and take advantage of increased movement) and then capture the city

    3) doing the above will net you xp for (almost) every unit, and a nice sum of cash (i get xp for over 100 units total, and about 5k-6k when i complete a jihad/crusade)

p.s.: you can "gamble" if the ai sieges the city and if you can anticipate his attack well enough you can earn the above bonuses even if you arent the one sieging/assaulting.... alternatively you can "cheat" and save the game, then join crusade/jihad and end turn... if the ai doesnt assault and your units are deserting just load the game b4 you joined the crusade/jihad
There is nothing that can match the exuberance of youth.... except of course, wisdom and treachery.

Maybe they previously thought you were awesome (or a better, more medieval, way of saying that) so if you fail they will go down to just being impressed by you so it would be a bad thing.

Nah I can live with it if they want to be impressed with me, hehe. Plus I get around 5k from merchant trade in my current campaign. Trading spices is king and it's well worth it to ship merchants to faraway provinces on the iberian peninsula or in the middle east just so they can trade spices. Even low skill merchants make at least 200something. Highest income from a merchant trading spice I had was 800 something I think.

Friend Wizzer a good tip with the merchants is:Find the most valuable resource in your regions, move your General exactly above the resource and built a fort, you can move now lot of merchants in the fort so:a)you will have the maximum profit because every single merchant will bring you trade from the specific resource,b)you are safe from asset seized because merchants are inside the fort and nobody can trade with them,d)Never happened to me an assassin to kill any merchant of mine inside any fort,e)you can see the foreign merchants and you can decide when you want to seize their money according the stats of them,f)merchants gain faster levels so you can send them to terrorize other merchants when the level is high.

I can't get this to work. Is it because I am running SS 6.0? Look at this screenshot, I can't place a fort on exactly the spot where the rescource is placed, the rescources are alligned to a different grid on the map.
