nothing spectacular. they were muscle for the pope, and in their off time, they were bankers. thats why the pope and king of france eventually turned on them. because of their banking monopolies. all that other stuff you read is simply horse.
I've been here the whole time.
Exclusive, heavily armed, rich corporation under the protection of Church.
One theory -
Christians who didn't believe in Jesus (so basically pretty much Jews) who fled from Jerusalem in the Roman Genocide and settled in southern Gaul. Became inarnated to medieval society, keeping their beliefs secret of course.
This is the Order of Rebirth in Sion.
When the chance came to go to the holy land and uncover the secret writing of Jesus's cult, sometimes called the Enuses, and proove that Jesus was only made great by Paul, and Jesus was not killed by the Jews, and Jesus did not start Christianity and probably didn't do any miracles, thus destroying the Catholic church and its corruption. The chance was the first crusade. After the first crusade they knew they would have to uncover the secrets. One problemo - it was in Herods temple, which was thought to be under the Al-Asqa mosque, which was now the home of the king of Jerusalem.
Thus they became the Templars, and the first fighting monks (this meant they no longer had to be alleged to their liege lords or to the King of Jerusalem, as they were under the power of the Patriach of Jerusalem), 9 soldiers, each of the Secret order of Rebirth in Sion (but of course nobody knew that) and defending the Pilgrims. They asked the King of Jerusalem if they could use the two derelict stables outside the Mosque as a hedquaters, and have them as a place to expand underground monasteries. The King accepted- a powerfull bodyguard at his doorstep. THus they began to dig, looking for these secrets.
Whether they found them or not, for some reason the Church burned them as blasphemers. Some reckon they atcual revealed to the Church their true meaning, but promised not to reveal it as long as they were given protection.
You must remember if you believe this theory, that not all the Templars knew about this, or the Secret order of Rebirth. Only one child was chosen from each generation of the original Jewish famillies, and he became secretly told of their true meaning.
It all seems a bit farfetched, but read these and it becomes believable.
Other intressting facts, which are definately true -
Skull and Crossbones was first used by templar navy, who wiped out the medditeraenean of pirates, not achieved since Roman times. They became so feared that later in history pirates in turn used their flags.
Some of the first Banks were used by the Templars.
Friday the Thirteenth is unlucky because on Friday October the Thirteenth, 1307, the most powerfull force of Christendom was dismanteled in a single day.

The "theory" is still total and complete nonsense.
See the link in my sig for details.
Evidence please. Sources and/or quotes. Otherwise we can dismiss this as nonsense as well.Skull and Crossbones was first used by templar navy
That's common knowledge. Some of the first Banks were used by the Templars.
It was not dismantled in a day and the "Friday the 13th" tradition dates back no further than the Nineteenth Century. The association with the day the French king moved on the Templars is a myth.Friday the Thirteenth is unlucky because on Friday October the Thirteenth, 1307, the most powerfull force of Christendom was dismanteled in a single day.
But thanks - I made a bet with myself that someone would introduce all this kooky crap to this thread within one page. I was right.

their soldiers were bumbuddies and their leaders greedy bankers. 2 very classic catholic features![]()
1. Please show me a source that shows an example for their "gayness." I doubt anyone was truly "gay" in that time, and I highly doubt a couple a knights would be since the only people that could get away with it sometimes are kings and noblitiy.
2. Most bankers in the Middle Ages were Jewish because the Church seriouly frowned on the usury. I would actually say some Protestant leaders after the Middle Ages were more greedy, since some believed that the more money you had the more favor you had with God.
Can we watch the bashing a bit please?
The very impossibility in which I find myself to prove that God is not, discovers to me his existence.

Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from the inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.

first my post was not serious.
i read often about templars doing each other. if it destroys your worldview dont believe it.
i wont look for a source or scan them and post them because i dont care if anybody knows/believes this.
Most of The Templars wasn't Homosexuell,Thats a fact.
Okay, let's do some thinking...
1, templars were the first bankers..and what? Later the lombards, having nothing to do with jews were famous bankers too...their name survives in banking related things. The concept that only jews can be bankers seems to be rather narrow-minded.
2, the theory that the templars may have been jews, who left Israel, after the destruction of the Temple, is more than ridiculous.
3, were they homosexuals? some testimony suggest it...although those testimonies were extorted by torment. Today such testimonies count as zero evidence. Even then people doubted these "revaled truths" about the templars.
It was a common practice then to call your enemies homosexuals and heretics, because these were the biggest offences anyone could be capable of, besides the ordinary treason.
"Introductory rites" (humiliations) such as in the testimonies exist in todays military forces as well. Otherwise temporary homosexuality commonly arises among men cut away from women.
4, That a jewish community manages to escape from Judea, into Gaul (why into the Roman Empire?) and they somehow hide themselves as christians while remaining jews, is weird. Even more weird is that they resurface 1000 years after the destruction of the Temple, and ground a christian military order, into which most christians may enter...
So, if pretty much any christian noble can be templar (although most of them was french to my knowledge) then how can they garantee that no one discovers them? How could an order being jewish in which members came from every part of France?
How could a jew fight for the pope, and Outremer only to return to a temple, he could return as pilgrim any day?
I know, I know...they have been searching for the secret information, which papacy was hiding from christianity: that Jesus had children and wife, moreover, they had alien technology and the Saint Grail..
And an albino monk ordered their execution.![]()
They were weak separately and tried to unify to get stronger, but were defeated termporarly to do it over and over, even today...
my thoughts exactly...
anyway, the only modern day templars are not templars in the same way of middle ages templars. the knights templar is an organization within York Rite Freemasonry, I think... hold on lemme look it up...
...
