METW Gold Edition Installation problem. HELP!
Hello,
Just bought the METW gold edition (Medieval 2 + Kingdoms exp). Whenever i enter the disc my PC slows down dramatically, i cannot open the installation link and simple things like clicking to highlight an object on my desktop takes about a minute to process... but whenever i eject the CD everything is back to normal.
doesnt happen with any other games... recently bought a new DVD drive with dual layer reading (had an older drive, couldnt install the game, was advised that gold edition needed a dual layer drive to read the disc)
this is a fairly new hard drive aswell... so i doubt viruses is the cause... and because of other games running perfectly fine (as said b4)
any help would be appreciated!

Hmm have you checked your cd? Maybe it has gotten greasy or gotten a few scratches already. Try covering the blank side in toothpaste using your finger and wash it gently off under running water while running your finger in circles. That makes the cd as clean as it can get, then put it in the drive and try again.

Slow down like that is it usually trying to read the disc. Can you see the icon in My Computer for your drive letter?

cheers for the replies,
i can see the drive icon in 'my computer'.. but it doesnt recognise the CD has been inserted. i cannot click or explore the drive to due to everything pretty much slowing down to a freeze state on my PC with the disc in.
i think this si the first game i have bought that requires dual layer reading... possibly something do to with that? any tech help sites you could recommend?

My gut reaction is it's a bad disc. Your system has slowed to a crawl trying to read the disc. If you bought it from someplace like Frys or Circuit City, it is maybe Sega's fault. If you bought it off ebay or at a garage sale, check it for scratches and dirt. Clean it up real good. Then if it doesn't work, bet you need to contact Sega for a replacement.
