Downloading

Hey, I have a Windows Vista with BI, A:TW and R:TW on it.
I try to download XGM but I dont know in which map I must put it.
Anyone got some kind of Walkthrough?

Extract the zip file, and then run the installer. The installer should find the right location for you.

Well, I am a noob with computers so I will try to explain my problem as easy as I can:

I click download, then I can choose between Open, Save and Exit
(im dutch so probably wrong translations)
I click save and then it downloads, but when it is done I dont get a shortcut and if I start it up I get the original RTW
I also have BI and Alexander so that might be a problem to:hmmm:

After the file downloads, there should be a zip file named XGM (version), unzip that and inside will be the installer. Run the installer and that should take care of the rest.

Nou vooruit in het Nederlands dan

1. Je klikt op downloaden.
2. Je klikt op opslaan.(Ik zelf doe altijd ni "Mijn Documenten"
3. Als het klaar is met downloaden dan ga je naar de map waar je hem in hebt opgeslagen. In ons voorbeeld "Mijn documenten".
4. Daar dubbelklik(open) je het bestand dat je gedownload hebt dus XGM5_7_18(of zoiets).
5. Er opent zich nu een nieuw scherm.
6. Daar zijn heel veel knoppen, die je gewoon links kan laten liggen. Wat je moet doen is de map openen die in het scherm staat. (5_7_18
7. Er verschijnen nu 3 dingen daar. Een map, een .exe bestand en een website. Je moet die exe hebben. Dus die: XGM5_7_18.exe
8. Die open je.
9. Dan gaat het programma die uitpakken gewoon laten doorlopen.
10. Er zal zich nu een nieuw scherm openen, het installatie scherm.
11. Gewoon op Next(of Volgende) drukken.
12. Op het scherm wat daarna komt moet je een paar keuzes maken. Dat zijn installatie opties die het spel te bieden heeft:
-Enable Fatique(Als je die aanklikt speel je het spel met fatique, je troepen worden dan moe.
-Faster Movement(XGM gebruikt standaard een langzamere troepensnelheid als je gevechten speelt. Als je deze aanvinkt dan speel je met de orginele RTW snelheid.
-Land Bridges(Land bruggen zodat de computer, en jij ook, over het water kan lopen van Turkije naar Griekenland en Van Marrokko naar Spanje.
-Promoteus cities.(Gewoon een detail-update dat de steden van de Grieken en Romeinen er op de kaart anders uit laat zien.
-Reduce AI bonussus(In XGM krijgt de computer standaard een hele grote bonus. Gebouwen sneller klaar,troepen goedkoper, en inkomensvoordelen. Als je deze aanvinkt verminder je dat.
-Alexander Exe. (Hier bepaal je of je met de Alexander uitbreiding of de Barbarian Invasion uitbreiding gaat spelen. Met Barb invasion heb je meer functies zoals hordende facties en shield tromm, maar met Alexander heb je een slimmere computer. Het is maar wat je zelf wilt.
-Enable Loyalty. Hier bepaal je of je met GCS en Rome met loyalty speelt of niet. Dus of je generaals en legers makkelijk of juist moeilijk naar de vijand lopen.
13. Als je daar aangevinkt hebt wat je wel en niet wil, dan druk je op Next(volgende)
14. Nu kan je bepalen waar het spel zich moet instaleren. Dat moet in dezelfde map als Rome Total War, als het goed is staat hij daar al op. Anders moet je dat even veranderen door op "Browse" te drukken en daar de RTW map te zoeken en die te selecteren. Dan druk je op ok.
15. Als de map correct is, druk je op Install.
16. Nu gaat hij installeren wat eventjes duurt.
17. Als hij daarmee klaar is moet je gewoon op Finish drukken.
18. Nu is er een nieuw XGM(RTW) icoontje gekomen op je scherm. Stop de Barb Invasion cd, of de Alexander cd in je cdd-speler.
19. Dan zal er een pop-up komen die je wat opties geeft. Gewoon op Exit drukken.
20. Start XGM via dat nieuwe icoontje op.
21. Veel plezier met XGM.

I think what he means is that he cant find the downloaded file.

Atlassmurf you have to look for the downloaded file in the place where your browser puts it in.

If you dont know here is a way to find out.

Firefox:
1. Open Firefox.
2. Open "Tools" tab at the top left of the window.
3. Then click "Options".
4. Then a window will pop up (make sure your in the "Main" tab).
5. In this window you will see a "Downloads" section.
6. Then look for something thats say "Save files to" the location it says is where all your downloaded files will be.

Internet Explorer: Well im not really sure, but I think with Internet Explorer it asks you where you want to download the file each time you download something.

Bedankt voor je uitleg, maar als ik via Computer:C:enz.. bij Rome Total War terechtkom dan kan ik de file niet zien. Wel als ik het opnieuw download want dan zie ik het staan waar de nieuwe opstarter hem wel neerzetten maar ik zie hem niet staan. Ik heb Alexander en BI weggedumpt dus mischien zal dat helpen.

Oh, ik heb hem in mijn document staan.
Maar Windows Vista heeft zo'n FolderLock dus kan ik hem niet openen,
geen een ZIP-file ds ja, wat moet ik daar nou mee?

Asking the help from the English peeps

He got Windows Vista and cannot open the file. He saved it, downloaded it, and now he cannot open it because of an FolderLock.

Does some-one knows what the hack that is, and how he can open the file?

Hm never heard of FolderLock with Vista. Though maybe I know it as a different name.

Can he give us a pic of the error he gets when he opens it?
