    Default Select Item From List

Hello every, my first post here.

I have a problem that I cannot seem to find the solution to on these pages. I'm trying to play RTR Extended Realism. I've installed the game as follows:

    • Installed RTW Vanilla,
    • Installed RTW:BI,
    • Patched to 1.6
    • Installed RTRPE 1.9

I then followed the installation instructions for RTR:ER to the letter, with the separate folder and the custom path in the shortcut.

The game starts perfectly, but when I try to begin a New Campaign, I get a dialogue box that tells me to 'Select an item from the list', with a green tick in it. Also, when I try to start a custom battle or a historical battle, the game reverts back to the faction selection screen when I try to begin the battle.

Perplexing. I hope you can help.

    Kind regards all.

Your problem is "Installed RTRPE 1.9" because ExRM includes RTRPE. You'll need to uninstall RTW, then repeat the steps you performed without that step.

That's not necessarily true. I have RTRPE 1.9 installed and everything runs perfectly.

You're right. I should have been more precise. If you have installed the mod-switch version of RTRPE, you should be fine. If you installed RTRPE to the main RTW directory (i.e. the non-mod-switch installation), then you'll need to reinstall.

Thanks for the swift replies! Unfortunately, still no joy. I have reinstalled from scratch, as instructed:

    1. Install Rome Total War.
    2. Install Barbarian Invasion expansion.
    3. Install the BI v1.6 Patch.

I then d/l and installed Mod Switch version, but I'm still getting the check box when I try to start a campaign, as before. I'm using ExRM 3.3.3.

    Hmm.

Just to be sure, you installed the ExRM 3.2 version then applied the 3.3.3 patch as described in the download thread? If not, you need to install 3.2 and apply the 3.3.3 patch afterwards.

Otherwise, I'm out of ideas. :hmmm:

Yes that's exactly what I did. I don't get it either, I've followed the installation instructions precisely.

Here's an interesting point though, when I start up the gamewith the mod attached, it tells me that I have RTW Extended Realism version 3.3 installed over 1.9 RTWPE during the loading screen (you know, bottom right whilst the 'sword' is loading), but if I go to the options screen it says (top right) 1.4?!

    Something isn't right here...

Excellent. I'm glad that Florin could help you.

Best of luck dealing with those wonderful barbarians who want to kill you and loot your cities.

Quinn, I think you should edit the download thread to add two notes:

    1) Check the version of BI.exe before patching. As we've here seen, it causes problems.

    2) You should not install a non-modswitch version of RTRPE in the same location as ExRM. As we've seen elsewhere, that causes problems.

Wait...so, if it was already 1.6 to begin with, then trying to install it again takes it down to 1.4?
If so, then I screwed up. But does that mean I have to reinstall EVERYTHING?
And finally, I got this error message when I exited out of the game:
    Script Error in
    ExRM/data/world/maps/campaign/barbarian_invasion/descr_strat.txt,
    at line 33, column 1.

Really irritating since I've spent most of the night on this....

    *edit*
    NVM, finally fixed it.

Why is it that at least one of the Romans are wusses?

I'm confused. Could you tell me what you've done?

Also, if the error's only occurring when you exit, it's probably not too bad. I mean, it should be fixed, but at least you can play.

Ok, well, I'm glad it's dealt with, at least.
