Does installing BI change RTW files

Hi, sometimes i have to uninstall and reinstall RTW and BI because of mod problems. The question is:

Do I always have to first install RTW, then patch to 1.5
and then install BI, and patch to 1.6

Can I uninstall and reinstall RTW without affecting the BI installation?

In other words, during the installation of BI, does it only create a bi folder with data inside, or does installing BI modify RTW files as well.

Not at all. Though BI is called an expansion, expansion does not mean that it changes the game files, it means it adds a totally new game. The only thing that it "expands" on is the theme of the game, not the files themselves.

So yes, all the BI files come in a seperate folder, so you should be able to uninstall RTW without affecting BI. However, I think if you installed using Gold Edition, your only option is to uninstall both at the same time.

Just out of curiosity, what makes so that the RTW/BI of the gold edition has to be installed/uninstalled at the same time. Other than the pre-patched games (not written on the game box, I had to read the forums to find out), are there other characteristics of the gold edition not written on the game box?

Well there are night battles available in plain rtws custom battles after you install bi so maybe there are some changed/shared files.

I'm not sure... I think it's just the fact that they incoporated the installers for both games into one larger installer and put onto one disk, but I don't know if that's entirely correct.

I've found that installing some versions of RTW BI onto a RTW 1.5 install downgrades the RTW from 1.5 to 1.3!

After you install RTW BI launch RTW and see which version it is. The version number is on the top right hand side of the options menu. If it's not 1.5 then you need to reappply the 1.5 patch.
