    Default Inbreeding

I don't understanding how you get the inbred traits. How does the AI know that the person you married is a relative?:hmmm:Once I had a mission to marry my princess to one of my family members. He was her very distant cousin and their kids didn't get the inbred trait.
That would be funny if they let you marry her brother or dad.

Well, he is a noobie. Apart from the tasteless line at the bottom of the post he has a valid query.

There is a file that tests conditions before assigning traits. Somewhere it might go like this:
    Code:
    Character marries
    Check relation
    If relation is family
    assign inbred trait

I'm not new, but I've never been clear on this... what exactly are the inbred traits? :hm:

I am not exactly sure myself, have to have a look. Just thought to explain how it works.

As far as I can tell, there is -no- correlation between actual in-game relation of the parents, and the inbred line of traits. The only triggers that exist come from a completely random chance at birth, and a greatly increased chance if the father is inbred. Neither of those really makes any sense to me (especially the completely random trigger). Also, in real life you could actually "breed away" much of the negative issues stemming from incest over a number of generations, but in game terms it's more likely to get worse with each son; even if they marry foreign princesses.

The names of the inbred traits are (in order of "best" to worst):
    A Bit Odd
    Of Dubious Lineage
    Inbred
    Woefully Inbred
    Spawn of Incest
    Betrothed to Mother

Ah... I've gotten the first two at some point or another, but never any of the others... even the time I married an Englishman to his aunt.

I believe you could try in MTW. If you set your princess to offer marriage to a close family member, she would be put to death or get taken out of the game or something.

I got only A Bit Odd in MTW, but I don't think it's related with inbreeding cause I got it for my Turkish generals as well and you can't inbreed with Muslim factions.

That reminds me, I was always curious if any Muslim nobles ever married Christian nobles in the Medieval Age. Does anyone know? I mean there must be a few...:hmmm:

its quite possible that it happened, especially in the holy lands, and do you mean catholic or orthodox as well, because its also likely that it happened in asia minor
