There should be even two for it, one quite old RTS and the newer FPS. Both are supposed to be rather bad as far as I have heard.

It's quite amazing how you can mess up making an FPS out of Starship Troopers.

I rewatched the first film a while a go and I was left thinking "lolwut" on a couple of things..
According to the Theory of War, which teaches that the best way to avoid the inconvenience of war is to pursue it away from your own country, it is more sensible for us to fight our notorious enemy in his own realm, with the joint power of our allies, than it is to wait for him at our own doors.

Making an FPS these days is more about hype and sales than gameplay, its funny that they couldn't even get THAT right.

Its funny when I see a game that most would just assume would be bad and someone makes a post asking if its good.

Those clever game developers sure took advantage of the hype by releasing the game 8 years after the movie.

The movie was great btw. and if someone had wanted, it could have made for a decent FPS as well.

There is an older Tactical action Starship Troopers, and that one is not so bad. It can be challenging, if you get the lighting right, it can also be downright scary, but it's not a 10 out of 10 or anything. Still, the classic formula you'd expect, 5-20 teammates, specialized classes, level ups and skill points, different missions, I think you can even call in airstrikes.

Actually, watch the videos for it on Youtube. Its really a simple mindless shooter that wasn't really complete on release, but is still fun- if you don't take it seriously.

They should make it more like a realistic shooter(on attack of bug and your almost dead, if not dead), with co op possibilities and possibility of being a bug .

its not really the best material for a game, no matter what its going to get a bit samey after a while. The best hope would be some kind of class based base defense coop mode - but then that would probably work better as a mod than a retail product.

Infact a mod like that but in the style of zombie master for HL2 would be awesome.. hmm

The RTS was pretty damn bad but the FPS was actually decent.
Has some nice intense moments but it's usually a trial and error sort of thing.
Things coming at you that you can't really predict like bugs crawling up from behind you.
Sure you will spot them if you turn around but that's always easy especially if things are going on in front.
Also while the game boasts about having huge amounts of enemies on screen, the enemies are 2d until you get to a certain distance or they move beyond a certain point. Then they will turn 3d.
So they can have huge amounts of enemies but they aren't really there yet.

I actually like the starship troopers settings. humor + action + gore + some nudity. only the first film in 1998 was good. everything else that is associated with it sucks. I mean you would think with those criteria, game designers or directors can come up with something worth while.

“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Have you had your daily dose of fear yet? craziii

But there is a simple way to see.
There is a demo for the FPS, try it and if you enjoyed it then you will no doubt enjoy the full game since it's pretty much of that.
