How often do you load?

I have the feeling that I'm about the only one who loads every time I lose a battle or one of my assassins gets killed or some other bad thing happens to my faction. I've been trying not to do that recently but it just seems so hard not to press quickload when something bad happens. Also when the AI besieges one of my settlements I always load the previous turn and recruit 3 or 4 units in the settlement right before the next turn. I feel like this is cheating... in a way. What do you guys do? Do you always swallow your pride when you are defeated in battle? I've heard someone in here say that there is nothing more fun than getting your arse kicked by the AI every now and then, and then you can get back at them a few turns later. Any thoughts?

Sometimes I do this... say, if I've failed in assassinating the Pope and gotten excommunicated. Or if, through an assassination, I've declared war on an ally and become Very Untrustworthy.

It's a useful tool to have...

The battle is based on what order your units are in.

Example:

General - Archers - Archers - Archers - Spearman - Spearman - Spearman

this army will take more causalities then this army:

General - Spearman - Spearman - Spearman - Archers - Archer - Archers

Why do you ask? Auto resolve, resolves the battles in order of the units, and uses their melee skill; hence the reason horse archers are ineffective in auto resolves.

Sometimes when I think "meh, can't be bothered to do this battle", autoresolve and then either see all of my cavalry destroyed or a clear defeat. Then I reload and play it out and get a pretty clear victory.

Do it all the time. Mostly when I lose an auto resolve.

If I attempt an assassination that should have worked, and he's killed, I reload. I can't help myself.

I do it sparingly. I used to do it a lot but I've found I have much more fun when I do lose a batle here or there, however when it's simply ridiculous then I use it, or when I lose a really good assassin or a princess gives me the big FU and marries into the OTHER faction then yeah I use it then too

Only when my one princess who I spent ages training and had like full charm and a 95% chance of seducing this one sap got out-seduced by him. If it were an assassin I'd forget about it, but princesses are so much rarer and so much harder to train up that I reload on such occasions. For just about everything else, I accept it as fate and continue playing.

Actually, when I played Vanilla (and this is true throughout Rome / MTW1), I autoresolved everything. I remember my first battle was in the first medieval, my massive infantry army lost to four horse archers (infinite ammo -_-), so I then autoresolevd everything.

Then after reading about how flawed autoresolve was, I reinstalled M2 (as it glitched so I couldn't play them out regardless, stupid Kingdoms installation). After which i've just been surprised how crap the AI is.

EDIT: I still autoresolve a fair amount of siege results. The enemy army will all die regardless so it doesn't matter that half survive the battle, which usually means I get less losses.

I'm terrible at large scale battles because i can't keep track of all my units, and i usually don't have the time to play many battle so i just click autoresolve.

I remember when i was playing on Med1 on easy/easy (i was a noob), i found out that the closer the number of men in your army and the oponents were, the less men you lost so a battle of 100 vs 1000 you might lose 400 men but 100 vs 101 you would only lose 10.

You don't mean to sound rude but you call other people a waste of forum space and breathing space. So you want them of this forum and you want them to die - sounds pretty rude to me. And why does it matter to you how other people play the game - it's like someone coming up to you and saying "I hope you die because you don't play in VH/VH all the time".

I'm with you on that KnightOfSicily. I'm nearly autoresolve all my battles as well. I'm more of a manager type, it depends on your playing style i guess.

I reload waaay too often.. I just can't help it. Whenever an assassin dies that should've had that kill easily, I reload.. When a princess gets charmed away, I reload.. When a fleet full of soldiers gets suck by a superior fleet, I reload..

Oh, and naturally I try not to autoresolve as much as possible (because I like to play the battles), but if there's a really unsatisfactory outcome on one of the larger battles (or a siege), I reload and either play the battle myself or autoresolve again until I get something I like..

I know.. I'm ashamed..

I autoreslove only when its a rebel or a boring siege. I reload when I lose because sometimes the autoresolve makes me lose when I triple number the enemy. Then I fight the battle. I actually love to fight battles more then always autoresolving.
