Furin, you joker... DLV is harder than original MTW on VH.
The most frustrating feature is the complete lack of comfort zone (unless you play Venice in Historical Campaign) and the feeling of constant struggle. You think you doing ok cos you've just defeated that pesky rebel stack and you're finally in the black? Worry not. I finally took Southampton after 35 turns and wiped out the rebels in Hampshire only to find that next turn my king died, happiness in London dropped to 65% and two (!!) rebel stacks appeared promptly sieging Nottingham. On top of that I had a Devastating Summer, Disaster on Your Roads and Negative Events at Your Mine. Oh, also, my carefully pampered priest turned rogue and if that wasn't enough my merchant got done in by a moorish one.
Did I give up? No sir! I'm playing this very campaign still (turn 324) and only one other campaign in my TW career comes even close to this one (a Mori camp on VH in the original STW).
DLV is seriously hard on VH and requires a lot of patience and grit but is fantastically rewarding. Playing 5.7 tonight - downloaded and installed before going to work and I'm itching to play it!!
