    Icon13 Wrong disc inserted

Hi. Today I bought Medieval II: Total war Gold edition.

I installed it but when I try to play it says:

    Wrong disc inserted.
Please insert the original "MED2GOLD" CD/DVD.

I am inserting the right disc.

Please help, I really wanna play this game.

What else do you have installed softwarewise? The copy protection will give errors like this for things like Nero, Damon tools, and using a copy you burnt.

never had any probs with it before... I have Gold edition and Vista... played Stainless Steel mostly and it was during an uninstall this started to happen... My suspicion lies in the registry, although I donīt know what would cause it...

for my problem, if I start a clean installation, my Gold DVD installer want to start with the kingdoms upgrades first and NOT the vanilla installer... so I have to go through the "backdoor" by explore the DVD and start installation... after I installed Vanilla, no further patches where installed and I went straight to Kingdoms... then I patched it to 1.5 (1.05?) and try to start... same message as above poster, although in swedish....

strange thing is I can still play vanilla without any probs.... :hmmm:

There are registry entries left then.

My advise is to uninstall Stainless, uninstall the Kingdoms campaigns, uninstall the Medieval2 in that order.
Vista? Make sure you have all hidden files and folders unhid. Then use the search in My Computer for Sega and delete everything it finds. Vista will hide over half the files and folders on you. If you don't delete them, you won't get a clean install.
Download, install, and run one of the free registry cleaners. Works wonders for the whole computer.
    Reboot for good luck.
Disable the UAC before you reinstall.

There is a sticky at the top of this forum for "Total War and Vista". Google can help with registry cleaners and disabling the UAC. Microsoft has a whole Knowledge Base on Vista that can queried.

    Good luck.
