Random Freezes during battle

I tried search, and I found a few topic resulting from the game crashing during battle, IE returning to Windows Desktop. However, my gaming PC is not crashing, and I have it custom speced for exclusive gaming. This PC has balls of steel.

Anyway, my current problem is the game randomly freezing up during battle. It shows no lag prior to the freeze-up, and it runs great otherwise. It's just that when I try to move my troops, sometimes the game freezes, and it takes a minute or more for it to return to normal. This is a minute that could be better spent slaughtering my enemies, and this is not good. Sometimes the game doesn't even turn back up, and I'm forced to Cntr+Alt+Del it.

Any suggestion that would help me fix this?

In addition, I cannot connect to the update server. I keep getting this error on the update server screen when I first start up the game.

Just a few questions. Have you tried playing campaign and battle on minimum settings and make sure they are set the same? Can you auto-resolve battles? Have you modified the game or are you playing a mod?

I have not to this date played the game on minimum settings. I shall try it, but I do not think that it will help since my computer is pretty much speced out with the latest hardware for gaming. The game has never been modified in any way. I can autoresolve battles.

Like I said though, the freeze is only temporary. Every once and a while the game will completely freeze up as if it's being overwealmed by information, and after a minute or two it will start going again.

I have found that if I get deep enough into a campaign, there are factions including rebels that are big enough that it will take a while to finish a turn. If you want to find out for sure, turn off the fog of war so you see the whole map and check follow ai so you see every ai move. If there are any real freezes, you will know where.

Like I said though, it's not during the stratagy phrase. That works fine. It's only during a battle when I'm fighting enemy troops. Every now and then, the game just randomly freezes up and I have to wait a while for it to unfreeze.
