    Default Civil War in SS

Ok, first off this is a feature of SS, so I am not going to discuss whether it should be in or out, thats for you to do in your personal version. What I am going to discuss is the whys and wherefores of this and see if we can create any improvements in how it is portrayed

Offensive to Nobles: This trait determines how your leader is viewed by their generals. Level 1 is 'they don't like you', Level 2, 'they start thinking of revolt'. What I have done is add a message to this trait so that players are informed of when it is happening.

In my current version the things that set this off are:
    a) you are the player - hence smarter than the Ai and can cope with this.
    b) Gain New Leader (about 1-3% depending on number of settlements)
    c) Gain Usurper (3%)
    d) Low Authority and nation in debt
    e) Nation is excommunicated and low Piety

    It then continues if
    a) Leader has low authority
    b) Leader far away
    c) King is a Fink - High Dread

It has a chance to desist if
    a) High Authority and near capital
    b) High Chivalry and near capital

Once you have a rebellion option, your authority can start to drop and those generals with a low loyalty will start to become disobedient and turn rebel. Now at present this means they just get zero movement points and sit wherever they are. While it may be better to use the script to check for this trait and cause the city/genral to turn rebel, this would mean a slow down in turn time, something I am not a fan of. It would also mean that you cannot regain that general.

    Constructive thoughts, bugs noted welcome.

perhaps you can create an equation involving loyalty and authority and additional trait levels to represent different levels of rebellion.

The first two levels of the "rebel" trait could just act as warnings. The next two can act as the immobile general, and the last would turn the general rebel.

The chance of gaining the next level should be derived from the loyalty/authority equation.

This is my thoughts. I would like to note to you that i have never even made an equation in scripting, so forgive me if this isnt possible. I just know that most traits appear as part of a percentage when certain conditions are met

The notification is a good idea.

In BGRIII, if you didn't know, I give the player the option to fight his way out of a rebellious period. As it is all about the king I made it so if he personally leads an attack & takes a settlement or fights and defeats a greater army than his own then the rebellious nobles are pulled back into line either in awe or admiration of his deeds. I also remove these rebellions from the AI as it has no idea what to do and I hate to see an otherwise successful ai being torn apart and therefore easy meat for the human player.

As stated above, totally agree, its not for the Ai. I did think about combat, but decided that this alone would not be enough, as some kings were useless in this regard, hence went for authority as the key. Now you can gain authority for heroic battles and high command, but wanted to have a king build his way out as well, so by building great works eg Cathedral or by making alliances you can also gain Authority. Want to add something in for Dread though, as fear is certainly one way to make people hesitate about opposing you, and some players just love Dread.

Would also like to combine Far/Near Loyalty, (Dis)content_General and (Dis)Loyal all into one trait as all for cutting down list. May do the same with Embezzler and Corrupt into Greed, it is a sin after all.
