    Icon10 Diplomacy

Ello all. Im new to this forum but not to RTW. First, i want to say Good Job on this mod! I cant stop talking about it.

But onto importent issues. I love DIplomacy in games. Its one of the ways i can beat stronger, more powerful people without getting myself hurt. But in XGM, it seems to be useless! No matter how powerful i am, i cant keep alliances together.

Is there a way to make diplomacy better in XGM, or RTW in general? I know in M2TW, there is a good mod for AI that really does the trick (I wont name names, kinda bad to advertise another mod in here )

Once again, I love the mod and hope AI Diplomacy is fixed.

You can use the "forced diplomacy" if you want.

Diplomacy in RTW is largely hard-coded, so XGM's is no different from all mods + vanilla. However, there is the Force diplomacy feature in XGM that can force an AI nation to accept your offer... Thats your best bet, but diplomacy is useless for the most part in all RTW mods.

Well, you can only force a deal, you can't make it last. Thats the RTW AI for you; it won't keep alliances if you have a common border.

You can also try to make buffer states between you and the AI. Just conquer a town and give it to an other faction.

That's why you should give it to a faction that is far away of your "main enemy" that is behind the buffer. You might get war with this buffer state say for example when playing Bactria, Carthage, main enemy is Seleucid Empire, but atleast you are save from TSE who wont attack this buffer state.

But I think he means that war is less important than diplomacy.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

War > Diplomacy After all, it's Rome : Total WAR, not Rome: Total DIPLOMACY

Besides, why should I ally myself with people that are weaker then I am, instead of conquering them? I only ally myself with peoples that won't pose a threat to me, very handy to keep my borders safe. And you should always be prepared to be backstabbed.

Only thing I use diplomacy for is to gain trade contracts and map information (selling and exchanging).
