Icon2 Ultimate soundfix for NON-english language versions! (UPDATED 26.07.08) + Rajput Generals UI fix

Hello possesors of NON-english M2TW versions,

are you annoyed of mute Armenians, Georgians, Makurians, ERE etc.?
I've looked deeper into some soundfiles and taught most of them to talk .

    Want to try it out?

    1. Make a backup of your export_descr_units.txt and your export_descr_sounds_units_voice.txt. You find these files in your SEGA\Medieval II Total War\broken_crescent\data folder.

    2. copy the attached files into your SEGA\Medieval II Total War\broken_crescent\data folder. Overwrite the files if asked.

    3. delete the files: events.dat; events.idx in your SEGA\Medieval II Total War\broken_crescent\data\sounds folder

    4. Enjoy the game with talking units!!!!

PLEASE REPORT ALL BUGS YOU ENCOUNTER (mute units)

up to now I haven't managed to give all units speech:

    - Mongols
    - ERE
    - Shinakan Skirmishers
    - Aspatak Skirmishers
    - Armenian BG
    - Makurian BG
    - Georgian BG
    - Turkish BG
    - Oman BG
    - Seljuk BG
    - Sindh BG
    - Kypchaks Khan's Lancers
    - Rajput Ghandara Spearmen
    - Rajput Javelinmen Cavalry
    - Knights Hospitaller
    - Great Cross
    - Arabian Infantry
    - Ghorid Ghazis
    - Afghan Noble Tribesmen
    - Jat Cavalry
    - Jagirdar Horsearchers

Most of the units are DONE! I won't change the Mongols, cause I'm too lazy and no one plays them either...
Some mercs could still be without sound, same goes with some levies... If you encounter them muted please report those units (preferably with their EDU name!).

    IMPORTANT NOTE:

    1. this fix replaces your EDU if you have changed the properties there you will have to do this again!
    2. this fix only works with BC Patch 1.05 installed with foreign language option!

This is NOT a minimod, just a soundfix

    AND ANOTHER ONE:

Due to a minor error of the descr_cultures.txt you can't see the genious rajput general cards. there are muslim general cards instead. for everyone who wants to see the originals before patch 1.5, here's the fixed file

overwrite the original descr_cultures.txt in your SEGA\Medieval II Total War\broken_crescent\data folder.

All the fixes should be savegame compatible

Wonderful news, I wished I knew what was solving the problem for when people had that. Thanks for finding out a solution.

there's still some work to do on this, it seems like not every unit has an entry in the right files, so that many units are probably muted in the english version too. I've enlarged my to-do list...

    UPDATED!

how is it in the english version? Especially the ERE... do they say "heavy cavalry" when you click on them on the battlemap? Just curious, because in the original EDU they don't have accents! Same goes with some other units...
