Default Adoption preventable by having more generals than settlements?

    (This is in vanilla 1.2/1.3)

Wanted to stop adoptions popping up, so I searched the forums and the title was the consensus. But when I got down and tested it, adoptions still pop up. I even went so far as to have 12 generals with only six regions, but no luck. Neither extra generals in descr_stat nor recruitable generals can stop adoptions.

What did stop them in the end, was when there are enough ppl in the family tree. Seems the best way is to give everyone more fertility. If anyone knows any other way of stopping adoptions, please share it with me.

I think in campaign xml file you can disable adoption. Not exactly sure the exact line of code, but saw it in the forum already.

So you added generals, as in "spawned" them, so to speak, or did you change the general/province ratio to have around 2 per province? If it's the latter, then I'd be very interested in hearing how you did that. Did a search for it and couldn't find it.

I miss the good old times of M1TW where you sometimes had more generals than you know what to do with. In the sequel I most times don't even got enough to govern each province, not to mention not having any "spares".

Named characters won't count as family members, just generals. Adoption is based on the ration of family members (as in family tree) to regions, taking in to consideration existing children (not more then 4 per parent)

Noted. What I'm asking is, whether or not there is an entry that says "general to region ratio" or something along those lines anywhere in the files. I'd very much like to bump it up to 1,5 or 2 generals per 1 region, seeing how it now seems to be about 1 to 1, resulting in stretches with several regions without a governor (when you actually use them in combat or are waiting for the last generation to come of age) and these arbitrary and unrealistic transitions between baby-booms and periods where you have to adopt.

Did you check in the campaign_db.xml?

Didn't find anything there that seemed relevant. Most family-related entries were about age, and there was some mention about max number of children per couple. Nothing about how many family members or generals one is supposed to get.

I think it is hard-coded, you can't delete the adoption system and it's not possible to modify the ratio number of generals/number of regions that determines.
