Is there a way to remove BYGIII from 6.1? I love stainless steel, absolutely hate BYG.

Why?
Check his mod thread, I believe he provides a file that will remove BYG III.
I really dislike the unit recruiting limitations. If you play a smaller start, Like Knights Templar, or Genoa or Sicily, it's very difficult to get the game moving. You only start with 2 generals, only one of which is strong enough to recruit. You have to keep your best general on hand to recruit units. It's pretty damn annoying.
Here's an example of a Templars game that I just abandoned.
opening: Attack Antioch, have diplomat form an alliance with the pope to boost papal standing. Try to raise troops--can only raise peasents. Castle can build sergeant spearmen, but none available?
Next, after Antioch falls get the pope to call a crusade against Cairo. Can still only raise units of peasants.
I use the movement bonus from the crusade to move my army down to Jerusalem which the Egyptians have just captured.
I lay siege, they attack, I win and capture the city. Moce crusader army on to Cairo, recruit mercenaries as I go. Begin moving non-crusader reinforcements in...can still only raise peasants, can not raise troops in Antioch (where my 2nd general is)
Lay siege to Cairo. Capture it. Have 3 cities and castle. Can only raise units of peasants and peasant archers. 2 full stacks of Egyptian troops show up, lay siege to Jerusalem, lay siege to Cairo.
Have 29,000 cash, can not hire any mercenaries.
I quit in disgust.
I appreciate realism, but this is closer to stupid than real. If players can't recruit units how is it the AI can? Possibly the most useless mod I;ve seen for M2 yet.
Sounds like you didn't read the tutorial or update the program. There is a link clearly displayed when you are using the ss6.1 installer to provide submod information before you select either RR mod or BGRmod. Surely installing something you don't know about is unwise.
Ah, so even with War Council traits/ancillaries and the correct conditions to be able to recruit, the timer still wouldn't go down. Well the reason I was a bit concerned was just some strange unit pool stuff that I wasn't exactly sure about the mechanics of which. Sometimes units would just be available, and in other similar stances would not be, like when first finishing a certain military building or something.
Anyhoo, thanks Caesar for the heads up.

There are files to revert back to 5.1's version...
Might not be for everyone, personally I find it simulates reality much better, plus I always play small factions and I like it... You're King and faction heir are both default War Council members, plus a third one becomes available. This simulates better the obvious fact your king and his 'inner circle' will be of more 'presetige' than some new adopted member of the family. Move one of these War Council members to your highest castle, and then you can recruit the more elite units. Unit recruitment is allowed only on a more historical unit allotment table. So you won't be able to recruit your plate mailed units the first turn on a early era campaign. The only downside, and it's really how you view it, is the religious AOR, tieing unit recruitment to an area's religious % can really put a halt on drives deep into area's not of your current religion, unless you really beef up and have good clear supply lines, preferably by boat, back to your homeland, so you can transfer fresh units to the front, and pull back the ones needing rest and refitting.
Try running the 6.1 patch again clicking the option to remove BGRII.
Also, some of these limitations may be due to BGRIII being unpatched itself. If you installed it via the 6.1 patch, it comes with a pretty major bug. You can fix this by downloading a patch in Byg's thread in the submods forum.

I've been wondering what that major bug was before updating with the hotfix. Musthavename, do you know what it was? I just want to make sure I've installed the patch correctly and I'm not currently playing with the bug and don't know it or something.
