I'm probably wrong, but the bird motif the saxons use on their campaign map army banners (not the faction logo) is a viking logo, isn't it? I saw in a book printed on viking coins from York. Like I said I could be wrong, but what if I'm not?

It was used as a Viking banner but it does have a significant history with the earlier Anglo Saxons
The raven was a powerful presence in early Anglo Saxon symbolism which can be found in the Anglo Saxon Sutton Hoo burial. The Sutton Hoo has the raven design on much of the leaders battle gear signifying certainly a great reverence for the bird. Maybe then its not unrealistic to portray it as a banner The burial is around 600 AD but one I think can conclude it was a continuation of earlier Anglo Saxon heathenism's reverence for the raven just a few centuries ago.
