During the course of the Grand Campaign, the General's Bodyguard is apparantly upgraded with heavier armour. Visually, the horses become encased in plate. How and when in the Campaign does this happen?

When you have the best Stables and Armorour.
The bodyguards basically become Gothic knights with a general.
And always upgrade -- I know it is obvious, but some one has to say it!
When I played the vanilla version I never got this even though I played to the end. Yet in Stainless Steel 4.1 I got the Gothic armour when I took a French citadel that had the King's Stable.
The upgrade is (I think) in Kingdoms. I get it by using the Retrofit Mod for the campaign game.
