    Default Playing Style

    Hey,

I was wondering whether people actually play their campaigns to fill the winning conditions, play till total domination, or just until they have had their fill of a particular faction.
Personally I tend to play until I can create all the units, have had some fun big battles and usually have about 30-50 settlements, I find it a bit of a slog to go all the way to 70 or so (long campaign). Also tend to loose track of all my generals.
After playing the majority of factions have realised there is a big difference in getting the economy up and running, say between HRE/Byzan and others like Lith/Rus that take a good while...

I tend to lose interest when it either gets hard or too boring. Haha

But after I saw someone dominate the world with Norway in 180 turns, I really want to do that now too.

If you're talking about Babagitta on his Norway AAR (Brotherhood of Watchers) then yes he did dominate.

Let me say that it's not something really epic. Anyone can do something like that but he has to be very patient because of the 199 regions.
Forget the 180 turns because it's my style to play fast. You can do it, if you have enough time to play for the next 2 months.

Yes it was Babagitta's campaign. I forgot his forum name.

But 180 turns... I won't be ever able to do that. Ah well, let's first dominate the whole world without paying attention to time, as I have 900+ turns

I recently started my first game of SS and opted to do Templar VH, although 25 regions. I generally opt on other TW stuff to do long campaigns, but thought that 70 regions seemed too daunting on this occasion. I am playing without BYG3 and RC and have found it FAB.

I generally in the game, try to be realistic with my armies, with an array of Archers, Infantry(Light and Heavy) and Knights. I do not fill my army with the hardest toughest units because that would not be any fun.

I play until it gets too easy, or rather I used to. Now I just need to stop modding long enough to have time to play a full campaign.

i tend to play up until i have a large empire and can overpower everyone else as things then tend to get a bit easy and complicated to manage all the generals etc...

I'm currently playing the French. I won the conditions to win the long campaign , but I intend to play through to the end to see how far I can get. Having tons of money helps! I am rolling up North Africa and the Middle East with around 7 full stacks of uber soldats...

Depends on what faction I play. Usually get bored with controlling so many cities, hunting down heretics and keeping track of all generals. After a few generations most of them are completly insane alcholics.

My current campaign as the byzantines is the one I've been playing the longest, my goal is to recreate the roman empire (not very original i know).
It was fun sending 10 priests and bishops to rome, convert population to orthodox and watch the city revolt and kick the pope out.

I now have about 60 regions, after i conquer france and iberia the campaign should be finished.

I tend to blitzkrieg whoever is on my doorstep. Then, spam alliances, low taxes and get my cities up to a decent standard until I can make the proffessional armies I want. Then, just take out one nation at a time.

I usually play until I get bored with that faction. I'm still test driving all the factions right now. I haven't settled down to actually play one through...yet.

I ally with an excommunicated faction which has a crusade called against them. Then I take my faction leader and camp out next to the crusading target killing crusading armies as they come.

i usually play till i get too powerful, then i look at the next most powerful faction, give them tons of units and money (through cheats), ally with them, then force them to start wars with alot of factions, wait till they destroy all of them, then have a massive empire on empire war.

Or i just cheat conquer a bunch of territories and give them to that faction.

Just use the create_unit cheat except on their cities and generals. Just make sure that the faction actually owns the unit, otherwise when you face them they will have the silver surfer syndrome.

Also make sure that the units you create are fun to fight against. Its really a chore to fight like 10 stacks of horse archers, and quite the marathon too

I used to stop once I had my fill of a faction - factions are like women, the early discovery period is the most fun - but I always save those games somewhere when I start a new GC then eventually go back to them, so it feels all fresh and new again - if you don't do this you are missing out
