    Default No install screen problem

Hello, wondering if anyone can help me with this problem? I just got Medieval II and when I put it into my pc it won't bring up the screen to ask me to install it and I can't bring it up from my computer either. It seems to be having a problem reading the disc or something like that but my computer works fine with other dvd-rom only games. I'd gotten Warhammer Mark of Chaos at the same time and it works fine and seems to have a similar spec list as MTW II, anyone have any idea what's wrong? I'm guessing it's some kind of software issue as I'm fairly sure my hardware is okay.

Sounds like a bad disc. Take it back where you bought it and see if they'll exchange it. If not contact Sega for a replacement.

I thought that at first too but I tried it on another pc and it seemed to work okay, strangely enough the pc I tried it on has lower specs than my pc so that's what made me think it's a software problem. Is there any unusual software needed to read the disc for Med II? I have all the games up to and including Rome Total War and its expansions and they all work fine, so it's something new in Med II.

If it's a dvd reader, it should read Medieval2. Cd readers don't read dvd's.

Yes it definitely can play DVD roms, I have other games which are DVDs, and play them on it. I have a DVD-RW. As I said I have Rome Total War and play it and it needed DVD ROM readable device as well. I'm quite sure it must be some kind of software issue, are you aware of any software you need in addition to a DVD-ROM to read the Medieval II disc which the Rome Total War disc didn't require?

If it's of any help I have a Dell computer with windows xp media on it, if there're any odd compatibility issues with that.

I had a Dell with XP Business/Pro and I had no problem with it. I would suggest searching Dell's support website for any upgrades to you reader and whoever the manufacturer is, see if they have any hardware updates for your model.

Do you have all your Windows up to date? It can affect it, also.

Not sure I fully get you, you mean the Warhammer game uses it too? It works fine however, I'll send an e-mail to sega though saying what the problem is and suggesting that securom might be the problem and see what response I get.

I am offering it as a possibility as other games using securom have done it. Search securom in this forum and may find more than a few instances and which games.
