so what new stuff from kingdom are you guys planing to add?
culture has been discussed allready and mid-east is much more diverse than British isles.
Well BC moves to Kingdoms in 2.0, biggest new features being new factions.
Who cares if we don't learn from History, its bloodly interesting.
Too much weird stuff happens for god not to exist

stone player-made forts! hooray!
"WE WILL SMITE THE INVADERS FROM OUR SKIES! Though they sweep over our lands like the sands of winter, never again will we bow before them; never again endure their oppression; never again endure their tyranny. We will strike without warning and without mercy, fighting as one hand, one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares, drenching our ancestors' graves with their blood. And as our last breath tears at their lungs; as we rise again from the ruins of our cities...they will know: Helghan belongs to the Helghast." -Scholar Visari
New voices for campaign.
(Characters, for some faction/s)
"And the Heavens Shall Tremble"
Resistance is futile™
"ehn sewr traih-sluyrds-lairareh"
And of course boiling oil, what's very useful
Any plans to incorporate cinematic openings?
Any plans to bring back the old MTW I rebellions?
It's much missed, as it can totally change a game.
Let´s wait for a team member to make a comment on this^^
"Every state is founded on violence."
"Stalin is the grave digger of the revolution."

Kingdoms tends to offer more brains than brawn, as in there's less noticeable stuff (like religion or hordes in BI), but that doesn't mean it doesn't offer stuff. Like Strelac says much of it is script related.
Voice wise, the Native American Voices will be a great choice for battle map & campaign map Indians, while campaign map wise it would work for Kypchaks/Khitai/Mongols (I don't believe the Mongols have any campaign map voices).
The Culture system sadly does not work for us because it replaces the role of religion. While religion might not play the greatest of roles right now, we want to increase that importance, and maybe have it tied into ZORs/AORs.
Stone Forts naturally, though I don't know if it's still limited in Kingdoms (I heard SS had problems with implementing it in some way).
I agree, and I think this is what we're most interested in investigating. You can divide a campaign into three portions: Rise, Empire, and Imperial. Really only in the rise can you risk losing a campaign. Once you reach Empire or Imperial status you are pretty much indestructible.Any plans to bring back the old MTW I rebellions?
It's much missed, as it can totally change a game.
wow great Ahigabtw can you elaborate more on this rise empire imperial?
They were phrases I cooked up when we were discussing lightly some ideas for the future. I felt you could cut a campaign played in RTW or MTWII to three sections. Essentially there's three stages or periods of a player's campaign, representing various factors of how their campaign will play, the challenge, the objectives, and so on: Kingdom Period, Empire Period, and Imperial Period. It's the Empire and Imperial Period which we need to focus on causing problems in, and the Kingdom period we should avoid causing a lot of problems in. There are also some factions which should have more Internal problems than others due to historical reasons primarily.
I felt like EB and Caius' The Crusades had some of the most challenging but rewarding "Kingdom Periods", where pacifying North Africa as Carthage felt like my own personal Vietnam. The wish is to keep that challenge throughout a campaign.
Kingdom Period
Most factions start off in this period. You don't have a lot of provinces, you are pretty poor, you're facing more powerful neighbors. Unless you blitz, it will take some time to rise. This is the only period that a player really can be threatened with defeat in most mods in my opinion.
Empire Period
A few factions start off here - The Egyptians, Seljuks and the Romans namely. You're rich, you have an empire, but you are (at least historically) facing far more internal problems. This is the point where a player has reached a level of invulnerability - Any attack by an enemy will be easily shrugged off and dealt with. Maybe the only case of defeat is if the player is dogpiled by all their neighbors.
Imperial Period
This is when you are without a doubt not going to be destroyed. This is the part most people quit at, and the most challenging area to make into a challenge. This is when you've got a massive empire, likely already won the short campaign, and have no threat whatsoever.
What we need or have to do is use a combination of EDU (Unit stats), EDB (building stats) and scripts to develop greater challenges in the Empire and Imperial Period. I'm not the resident script expert, Miraj/Grandviz/Kinniken are, but my own wish is that the greater the status of your faction the greater the fall should be. What can be cooked up in the future relies on what can be scripted within the confines of the engine, but I think we have a lot to work with. The Baron's alliance for instance, if it can be set to effect any faction the player is, would allow for a very aggressive shadow faction.
2.0 in general would be more with the brain and nerves of BC than the muscles and flesh, bringing it's interior depth up to par with it's exterior's quality.

Sounds very interesting.
The three period analogy is spot-on.
I don't think I've ever managed to finish a game, as I get midway through the empire stage and I just get bored.
If you had the danger, for example, of a struggle for succession when your ruler dies then at least you will know that you could still have a real battle on your hands.
dead on!
would be nice to see if you could fix something like that
The Empire and Imperial ones doesnt sound too atractive. More like "boring" wars with unbeatable enemies, some thing simmilar to custom battles IMO.
But i guess it depends on what are these "internal porblems" and Imperian roster/quests.
Very interesting. And sounds like its gonna provide us with
lots of hours of happy playing.
Very very useful. Not to those that are covered in boiling oil though. And of course boiling oil, what's very useful
