    Default 1337 Teutons

So we all know that the Tuetonic Order pretty much freaking owns, but I keep running into one specific problem: Money. By the time I've taken about 5 of lithuania's settlements, my armies are worn down by arrows. Usually by then someone else will attack me also, but my question is how do you guys keep your economies going in Teutonic Order. I know the basics of economies like farms and trade agreements and stuff, but I just keep seem to keep up enough revenue to keep my armies growing with my civlization.

So for any good tricks on keeping up your momentum post it here.

its a tough question. everybody knows that Teutons have very good units roster, but their economy is their terrible weakness.

I would say use all of your initial good units to sack all nearby cities and make sure you disband all unnecessary units that require upkeep. and dont shy away from recruiting milita and peasants! this is the only way you can keep yourself afloat until you beef up all your cities to generate enough money to keep your knights fighting. I would recommend to actually keep one or maximum two castles, while converting everything else to revenue-generating cities.

Try to get the Hanseatic League too, and of course get trade rights with as many people as you can. The problem with the Teutons is that they eventually have to convert to castles in order to advance their settlements, which really sucks for their economy. Sometimes I had to play extremely defensive until some neighbor or other built up their nearby city. Then I'd take that but not sack it so I have a steady flow of income.

Also, try to pander to the crusading nobles as much as you can.

You need to control either 1) most of these regions or 2) at least one very developed of these regions: Novgorod, Hamburg, Danzig, Riga, Visby. Eventually you'll get a guild offer for the league.

Its outright control. I checked the script. It gives you a certain amount of points towards a "score" that you need to be offered the league. I beleve i wrote it down somewhere.

Yeah the huge problem is if you're like me I keep very low garrisons and annihalate the Lithuanians, then denmark or Novgorod always own me up north and my economy is too shattered to do anything about it. What if instead of chaseing after all these stupid skirmishers, we own Poland right away, even though they have some too. But then if you keep defending from Lithuania who can't siege for crap, you can reach Denmark and HRE which have mostly heavy infantry like the TO. Anyone had any success with that?

well, have u read the manual saying that the teutons need castles in order to advance their settlements?

FORGET IT!!!! its been changed in some patch -.-

so go go convert all ports into towns and get some nice fat income to own your enemies

i had the same problem with you and i decided to convert a castle into a town and to my suprise it grew and grew (till the last 6 free unit upkeep walls)... after that i saw no challenge in the campaign and havent played it since
