Unit Group Formations

I just recently downloaded a demo for medieval total war and it had a tutorial that forced me to use the grouping and formation buttons. I then finished up the demo and I must say MTW is a pretty sweet game-its graphics aren't fancy but they do the job. Now I've started a Rome campaign in RTW and tried out the unit formation buttons and I rather like them now. Anyways, who uses those buttons? Today was the first time I've ever even bothered with them and they're pretty useful from what I saw.

You mean the ones that appear when you select several units of a different type?

Yeah, those buttons where you can click things like, one line, double line, generall in back infantry in front cavalry on wings, those.

I use column when my phalanx goes through gates, and in fun custom battles when I charge a stack of equites against spartans I also use column.
