2001 a space odyssey is in my mind the epitome of film craft. By its very design it answers no question, yet presents so many.

It is left up to the individual to form their own answers, and takes the viewer to a mindset that allows one to ponder the large questions.

In terms of film craft, it is hands down the most visually hypnotic film ever. It is a ballet of sight and sound. Every frame is perfect.

While Aliens is an awesome movie in its own right, it isn't better than the original, although they are different movies in style. Bill Paxton is a genius in Aliens and the aliens themselves are much more in-your-face, but there are way too many cheesy scenes in Aliens to make it too great. To me Alien is near perfect as a film. The only problems it has are that it was made in '79 and some of the 'high tech' tools they use in the movie aren't realistic.
