Hey, this is my first time on here.

I recently decided to try one of the different MODS out there for Rome:TW. I played it for a while and just wasn't happy with it. So, I knew I had to uninstall everything because the MOD did not come with a 'sub-mod folder', no big deal. I went to uninstall, but would not let me. It would act like it was going to uninstall then nothing. So I went to the control panel to add/remove programs. There was Rome Total War and there was Rome Total War 1.3, I don't know why there was the two there. But anyway I removed the 1.3 and then went to remove Rome Total War, not exactly sure what it said, but it said something about it could not be removed, something about the uninstaller. I clicked OK, then Rome Total War was removed from the list. But some files and stuff remained in my Rome Total War / Creative Assembly folders. I manually deleted them since I found no other way to get rid of everything. I then rebooted, logged in, put the disc in and it pops up, Play Rome Total War or Uninstall. I cannot do either. I went through the registry and deleted everything I could find related to RTW, Creative Assembly, etc. I searched for the RomeTWini.exe file and found nothing. As far as I know everything is gone, but when I put the disc in, it asks me to play the game or uninstall it. But like I said, I can't do either.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: Disregard this post. I did some more searching around (I am an idiot, forgot to check 'search hidden folders') and found my problem and took care of it. I am now able to reinstall Rome Total War. Sorry for taking up space.

    Double post, sorry. New error.

Now that I am given the option to Install Rome Total War, I go ahead an click Install and InstallShield Wizard starts up as usual, then it stops at 'preparing installation' and gives me this error:

Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
    c:\windows\installer\{A642BB6B-CA1D-4142-8DD3-318C3F3DC834}\1033.mst

I have no idea of what to do now. Thoughts?

    EDIT:

    EVERYTHING IS FINALLY FIXED!

Delete this if you need to.

One way around the problem of installing a mod and then having to remove RTW in order to remove the mod is to take a copy of your RTW folder and then apply the mod to that. Make sure that the RTW that you copy is a 'clean' (i.e. unmodded) version of RTW. it will save a lot of problems in the future.

Yeah, it was the first time I ever tried something like this for RTW. After reading around a bit I figured a little bit more out of how to save myself problems down the road. Thanks for the response.

No, problems. Several years ago someone gave me the same advice after I had gone through the install process several times (with the 3 CD-ROM original version) and it saved me a lot of time.

Make sure that the game works for each stage of the install so if it fails you know when it fails rather than at the end (of a multiple step process).
