    Default wow the loading times in this are ridiculous...

    i had SS 6.1 and it i did something to it to make it go a bit faster and kill the loading times a bit but i can't remenber what so i got bored and decided to look for another mod; so i found this mod and decided to give it a try, and it looks absolutely wonderful! but the only thing that kills me are the loading times! its probably like 40+ secs of loading time per turn and its starting to hurt pressing the "end turn" button.So im just wondering if this is normal?

    I don't know what you mean by 'loading time per turn'. Are you refering to the time it takes for the twenty or so AI factions to plan and execute their move? If so you have it made. I wait at least 3 minutes between turns, but use that time to plan strategy among other things. It is just the nature of the beast and AI cannot be rushed, imagine how long you would have to wait if the other opponents were all human.

    In the main download thread for version 3.0 you will find a no garrison script a few posts down. This will cut down the long turn times.

    @Stylix,

    People have a simple choice, they can either play a slower more challenging campaign, or a far easier, quicker one without the garrison script.

    Its worth me pointing out as well that (AI controlled) factions will kill each other off far quicker on the campaign map without these garrison defenses. Meaning that by the time you get to the late period there will be very few factions left, just like in vanilla!

    @dave,

    I agree with you. I personally would prefer a more challenging campaign and the scripts certainly help out. At this stage of AI implementation it cannot work as well as the human mind in certain parts of the game, especially in formulating complex strategies. I like the garrison scripts as opposed to say giving them unlimited funds or troops for no valid reason. I come from the old days of board (i.e. Avalon Hill et. al.) war and strategy games where a turn could take days so I don't mind the wait for a good battle.

    One of the problems with this game sometimes is the AI only leaving 1 unit to guard a settlement. Even Lusteds CAI cannot fix this because you must have either an AI that expands well or one that is very fortified. (which means they stay in defensive mode). I have watched the AI movements and a lot of times they lose settlements because of this! Since I added a garrison script to Adana for instance Antioch no longer runs riot through Anatolia. So you can see what big effects garrison scripts can have on the campaign.

    This mod actually has one of the fastest down-time between turns for a mod of this scale. For me it takes about 30 seconds TOPS. If you've played an even bigger mod like SS then come back to KGCM you will think this is lightning fast.

    i started with SS and i get 30 secs there usually but here i get close to a minute maybe even more

    That is the reverse for most people, including myself. I find that strange actually, and rarely have anything above 30 seconds. I'm not sure why its so slow. You can turn campaign shadows off and skip AI movement, and even remove the garrison script. I don't reccomend the last one though, as it improves the gameplay significantly.

    I started with SS as well. Until I get fed up with the sudden CTDs, and the annoying battle slowdown due to every arrow being fired staying in the ground.

    I have never had a CTD while playing this mod. A couple of minutes between turns is a very small price to pay for such a stable mod.

    I will not be changing anything in this mod to make loading times quicker. And it does not concern me at all that people may decide not to play this mod because of slower turns. I am completely happy with the garrison scripts. I will continue to provide a "no garrison script" however for each new update.
