Default Buying A FPS Tomorrow, Recomendations

Is battlefield 2 good, Is it dead online, etc this is the type of info I need. Is there any good FPS game that are good and have a mature online community (sick of being called a hacker by some American nerd with a ed up voice)*

    *No offense intended

Call of Duty 4. Amazing campaign, and very well done and very fun multiplayer.

The community varies but is mostly alright.

Day of defeat source, it's $10, and if you find the right servers has a very skilled yet friendly crowd. I play on the [28th ID] server almost exclusively.

Well to be honest I run it at max with a 3800X2, 2 gigs ram and a 7900GT.

You might be able to run it low.

    Otherwise, get Team Fortress 2.

COD4 runs better for me than BF2 does...

BF2 still has quite a big community (about 6000-10000), but since the patches it isn't as fun as it used to be imo. Unless you are set on getting vehicles, get COD4. TF2 is also a great game if you like that kind of game, and it wont kill your computer despite being new.

Oh, and BF2 has one of the most annoying, whining (or did when I played) communities in existence.

I'm afraid I'm not much help then my PC hasn't been up to date in 3 years, I've only played older gamers such as Call of Duty and BF 1942 but both were good at the times I played them and they're incredibly cheap these days.

I was gonna say Crysis, it's a hog.

I am sure lots of people still play Battlefield 2, 2142 wasn't received well by all people, but Battlefield 2 was. Do you think your comp can run S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? It's an awesome game, I don't think the requirements should be too high. The game isn't that old but spent a long time in development so the graphics might be on par with what came out two years ago or so. However the lighting effects and atmosphere have yet to be matched, nor has the extremely realistic ballistics model. It also has several great mods for it, and is free roaming. I have to stop, I'm rambling...

It's pretty fun, especially if you find a good squad. It's fun. I haven't played in a year at least though.

Doesn't Battlefield have that really cool WWII mod? Either way, the teamwork based gameplay, big maps is fairly rare these days. It's a lot like Tribes, so it would get my vote for game to buy.

Do look into Half Life 2 and all the popular mods surrounding it. If you're been part of the Half Life 1 community you'll enjoy it again.
