There needs to be a drastic rework of the basic MMORPG formula for this to be a success; another WoW clone won't do.

Bioware is one of the few companies that might be able to pull it off.. lets wait and see.

So...I guess that confirms both the KOTOR 3 and Bioware MMO rumors in one shot. Hopefully the Jade Empire 2 rumor will be true sometime in the future (and it WONT be an MMORPG)

Yeah KOTOR 3 would have been nicer but guess Lucas really wants a mmorpg and after SWG disaster. Only thing worries me is Bioware's strength is storylines, moral choices etc...not sure how they bring their strength to a mmo. And yeah I hope JE 2 is somewhere in pipeline too, shame that JE is basically the red headed child stepchild of Bioware's games...it doesnt get enough respect.

Shrug its Bioware, if anyone is capable doing it given the quality of their games it is them. It wont be a wow killer anyway since its a scifi themed game and some fantasy players just wont touch them.

meh, i'd rather have a actual single player experience in Kotor 3 then an MMORPG.... i never play mmorpgs, played once, got bored, never picked up another one...

Here is what I would like in this kind of RPG:

Jedi and Sith Lords do not respawn (same with all named characters), once their dead they are dead.

Character's actions change the landscape and their actions decide how planets turn and the war is waged. Later high level characters become the new Sith and Jedi Lords. Once they become Sith, Mandolorian, criminal or Jedi Lords and are killed they suffer penalties (like loss of levels)

Bioware GMs change the world to deal with the player action and keep game going, if one group gets too powerful thow in a world action.

Their taking a big risk that's for sure. This is going to be hit or miss - no in betweens. If they do this right this could be the best mmorpg ever.. or it will totally tank.

You know, it's entirely possible for this to be the best MMO of all time, as well as being critically and commercially successful, and still have far fewer than WoW's 10 million subscribers.

Of course, just look at Eve. But, the problem is that these big game developers trying to break into the MMO market don't want a million or so subs, they're looking at Wow with dollar signs in their eyes and they will see anything less than Wow's subs as "not meeting the financial expectations" The amount of MMO's that are canned before they even see an alpha stage is astonishing. Not to mention the ones that do get released in a hurried buggy state and die before the first few months.

The success of Wow is a freak of nature and will very likely not be duplicated within the next decade in the western market.

Many people said the same thing about SWG when it was coming out, and heralded as the EQ killer... heh. We all know how that ended up.

Halo community is bigger or as big as a MMO community, and offers better online gameplay. No need for a MMO.

KOTOR was about the story, MMO's don't have stories, thus this game will epically fail.
