    Default SSTC - Unit/model and various bugs

    Hello

    First and foremost, let's take a minut in honour of all mod-geeks on this forum, amazing progress here, but here are some minor bugs and thoughts about SSTC.

    Now, the bugs:

    - Ram jumps into a building, and gets stuck! (Gaza) (No answer yet)
    You finally reach gaza with your crusade (Danish) and when you are about to capture gaza, your ram dissapears. One unit left and I would have captured gaza.

    - Joker skin or strange realism? (no answer yet)
    Someone has been smoking the wacky-tobaccy or do I need a history lesson about clanleaders way of dressing? It does seem strange to me.

    A Black face, A sword with Yellow, Red, Black, white and orange stripes? I have always been amazed by the skins in medieval 2 mods such as ss, but who did this one? Someone has been smoking the wacky-tobaccy or do I need a history lesson about clanleaders way of dressing? It does seem strange to me.


    -English longbowmen invisible dagger, or are they supposed to fight unarmed? (Explained by Santiago/Barser)

    -Danish War Clerics has 3 banner carriers, 2 is not a bug, but 3? in a row? ( I thought the Banner-carrier was the officer?)(Seems correct after all)

    I have 2-3 more model bugs, but I can't seem to remember em! Brainfreeze!


    - Anyway, lets talk about the spread out cavalry, I guess this has been discussed a million times, but I searched and came up with nothing.(removed the new animation and works fine again, but why?)

    I installed the fix with SSTC, but I don't know if got worse, since I never have tried sstc without it. But something must be done, that's for sure.

    You are in an emergency, you need to rout a unit, so you charge em in the back with your bodyguard. Sure they rout, but ur unit is now spread over the whole map, and the general is deep in enemy ranks, and he is dead. Like a mile from where I told him to go! "Why did he go there?" you ask yourself. "Nevermind, it just adds som realism to the charge, horse do panic when forced to ride into a wall of ppl". But this is not realistic, I can't take it anymore.

    Cav is almost usless, like a sucide bomber, sure the unit is stone dead after the charge, but so are your cav.

    I guess the insane running is a part of the increased charge, but is does the fix make it worse? I frapsed this fight, now I made a jpeg with arrows and dots so you can witness the madness.

    It is 10 units! only 5 of em is in Screen. And I got a 20 inch screen.


    EDIT: Castle banners? (Explained by Santiago)
    One thing that might not be a bug, but why do all castle towers miss their Banners? All the towers are shooting, but there are no banners. It is pretty anoying to wait and see if the towers are firing, why are there no banners? (I can submit a pic)

    You don't know who controlls the walls or the gateway, you don't want to march in your cavalry when the enemy has the gate, cooking your bodyguard. Give back the banners on buildings, it looks deserted otherwise, you don't know.

    EDIT: Faction leader dies (Not total combat, but SS.6.1
    I got the message "Holy roman emperor dies", but he is alive, I can see him with my general. However, my faciton leader is dead. So that one missfires, saying roman emparor dies when mine (danish) dies. I have seen similar things with wrong faction tags before.

    Nice.. Enthusiasts would be a more proper word..

    Anyway..here's the help:

    1. Invisible secondary weapon of english longbowmen:
    - sometimes during the installation of the game, not all files are installed, try re-installing again
    - other possibility is that the game might have not loaded the secondary weapon textures, for that battle, but will for the next! Happened to me, and they were fine in another battle..

    2. Danish War Clerics has 3 banner carriers:
    - Where do you see 3 banner carriers? All I see is 2 banner carriers, an officer who every unit gets in SSTC, and a captain of the unit..hence everything as it should be..or, should I start wearing glasses!

    But the real bug that you can get with SSTC, are the no texture units! Often related to officers without textures(AKA silver surfers)!

    3. Cavalry spread:
    - dude..there is a link on the first page of SSTC where you can download a fix to remove the spread(in the optional files section)!

    As I said, I have been searching around for this subject, and I have installed the fix, I wrote that in my post, but it gets worse with the fix, atleast it does not get better. Thats my 3 question.

    2. Danish War Clerics has 3 banner carriers:And about the banner carriers, should not the banner carring soilder be the officer, other units do not have this officer. The only units wich has these 3-men combo (atleast in my installation) are these clerics and huscarls. (as far as I know)

    EDIT: Up yours Pola, there are no fix there Or is it? the spread is no animation. I installed the "fix-spread" with the SS-installer. (and all the updates and hotfixes) Should that not be enough?

    Since you are the one solving my problems today, you made the torch/burning man-fix, and we all love it. This time I forgot to install it, but it seems like it is built in in SS? or maybe I did install it. Anyway, The troops got torches even during daylight, are they supposed to have that? It's midday, sun is shining and they are running around with torches? I think it looks kinda cool, just wondering

    KingCrap: so you have 3 banner carriers? thats weird. It is in the export_descr_units file if you want to look. In mine war clerics only have one officer and 2 banner carrier I am sure I havnt been messing with that since I installed sstc1.2. I did remove some of the officers though ( the bugged ones and for low peasants, militia).

    try serching in edu file for norse war clerics.

    this is what I get:

    Im very thankful for your advice, but I would prefer to not be adressed as "King Crap", it does not really reflect who I consider myself to be. King Crab. Not King Crap.

    I don't know if you saw my jpeg, but it turns out to be: One officer + 2 banner carriers + one captain. I thought Banner carrier was the officer? Anywho, I always wanted to know how to edit those files.

    (I keep adding bugs to this list, and editing my first posts, if you are wondering.)

    Woah, now that is a King among Crabs Don't worry, I had a pretty good laugh about it myself
    It was pretty funny, wasn't it? Anyway, I love that crab. Really. I always wanted to make a signature like the rest of you but I am terrible in paintshop, but that changes today, check out the new signature, (look close, "designed by barser" tag in right down corner). If you don't want it there il remove it, but damn that looks nice.

    You use SSTC right? Should I remove the "horse animation" as Santiago said, to remove the spread out horse fights? I installed the hotfix and the patch, and clicked remove spread out horse fights, but nothing happend. Any ideas?

    EDIT; You know that the red king Crab is a spiecies, it is a cold water crab found in berings sea, real ugly bastard, I prefer you pepper crab, it looks much more like a king then any other crab. http://www.seafoodfromnorway.com/binary?id=53491

    Haha nice sig. King among crabs

    I recommend you install all of the fixes to sstc including the spread out horse animation.
    What I did was tick the disable spread out horse animation and then I just installed the optional spread out horse animation also just to be sure and I dont seem to have any problems now.

    (and yeah a king crab is a really big ugly crab. Saw a program on discorvery once where a bunch of alaskians where hunting them and only had a few days qoute to hunt in. It was pretty exiting actually)

    Yo King Crap..mod geek reporting!

    Cavalry spread: You won't accomplish nothing with unticking the cavalry spread option in the installer! What you have to do is install the cavalry spread fix in the optional files section!

    No banners on towers: That is caused by SSTC, because it introduces banner carriers, hence making previous banners(yeah, those silly ones that were flying in the air) obsolete! Unfortunately that removed the banners from the towers too!

    You can fix it by going to your medieval 2 config file(or the SS one..not sure), and change banners - 0 to banners - 1, or banners - true..something like that..but you will end up turning all the banners on, which will look weird with banner carriers..

    Soldier torches: My mod is not included(or built) into SSTC! But if you install it(torch mod), you will notice that all I changed was the size of the flame(along with some other flame parameters)..but sometimes, due to game's engine, you will get soldiers with torches, when fighting battles early in the morning/evening, hence the illusion they have torches during day..

    BTW..does your forum name has something to do with Discovery's Deadliest Catch series?

    Santiago de Pola: So that was the name of the program . Your right about the torches in the eavning and morning.
    It is in Stainless_Steel_6\Stainless_Steel_Kingdoms.cfg you change the banner at the buttom of the file to:

    show_banners = 1

    I actually have that with banner carriers and think it is okay but it gets to much sometimes.

    Nice, this must be one of the most effective problem-solving threads ever. And pretty funny too

    If this really fixes the cavalry-spread, then damn! That would be so nice. Will start playing again as soon as I post this. Too bad with the tower-banners, but then I guess I'l stick with the TC as it is.

    Deadliest Catch, right, it's on Discovery channel in the middle of the night, real good fishermen! To be honest I'v been the red king crab longer then I can remeber, but it sure feels good that there is a show dedicated to this ugly fmuck (the crab i mean) (how come If I write "er i get a gay smilie?)
