Odd speed issue
I recently transferred some games from my PC to a laptop that I own. The laptop seems to be a step up in every way: CPU speed, graphics card, memory, etc. I tried to play MTWII however, and found that apparently it is not. This came as a shock to me because another game I own and recently transferred, Company of Heroes, is newer and more graphically demanding yet runs much faster.
The only difference between these two games, that I can discern, is the directX version, 9.0 and 10, respectively. I would like to know if this is causing the problem, or if it is something else that can potentially be fixed without buying different hardware.

Re: Odd speed issue
Medieval2 requires directx9.0c. You can download it and install it from Microsoft's website.

Re: Odd speed issue
So you're saying that it will not work with higher version of directX? If that is true, then I'm not going to downgrade just to play.

Re: Odd speed issue
You miss the point. You can have both directx9 and directx10 on your machine. Vista doesn't care. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en is the link for the runtime. Let Microsoft do the work since they don't want to make directx10 backward compatible.

Re: Odd speed issue
Thank you. Both MTWII and RTW run very well now.
