    Default Renaming regions?

I couldn't find anything with the search function on this forum, so here it goes:

How do you edit region names in Medieval II Total War? I've heard of there being a data\text\imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt file that lists all the region names? Well, my installation doesn't have it (and my game works fine). What should I do?

The 1 thing that annoys me about Medieval II is that none of the region names are unique, they're just based off the names of settlements in those regions. I'd like to change them to historical names, like changing "York Region" to "Northumberland", "Caen Region" to "Normandy", Caernarvon to Wales, etc.

You will have to unpack the game to have access to this file. It resides in the data\text directory. To change the 'display name' you will have to change the right hand part of the entry (red):
    {London}London
Don't change the left hand part as this is the 'reference name' that the game uses in a lot of other files.
To unpack the game go to the tools directory and search for the unpack_all batch file. After unpacking delete the two files in the data folder that have 'geography' in their name.
