    For which of the submods?

For IJ I am using normal. But thats mostly because of my computer and because
I got used to it that way.
Everything bigger to just looks like masses flowing around, and there's not much space for maneuvering.
I think the shieldwall formation is designed to be used with huge unit scale.
It really works badly with few units.

I always set it on huge. That way you can recretate the amount of men making up a late Roman legion. The in-game ordines have the same number of soldiers than the real ones. Besides, I love masses of soldiers kicking each other's butts on the battlefield.

Most people set it on huge.
If your computer can do it it's probably the best one.
Personall, I don't. Because of my hardware.
Now I have also gotten used to normal so I like it best.

Huge here. Smaller casualties (eg from minor skirmishing) matter less to the battle as a whole. For instance the damage a ballista might cause would be probably more significant on small scale because a larger proportion would probably not live to join for melee. Or maybe not, but that seems possible.

In medieval in particular on small scale it always strikes me as strange when small gunpowder (eg musketeers) cause enormous casualties (as a proportion) when they are such a small unit. Just seems strange. This is actually a serious concern for me as we look towards Empire Total War, since the same (or similar) team is being used and starting with the French Revolution in 1793 armies were suddenly much, much larger than before (typically 5+ times larger per battle) so unit scale could let me down in showing how battles were getting larger, rather than just there being lots more smaller battles because the French suddenly get, say, 10 free conscript stacks. That would be inaccurate and tedious. So I hope they know what they're doing.

Either way I like having larger unit size since that puts more emphasis on how you deploy your army as a whole (as opposed to single units) and since there is less space infantry can actually make the difference in many battles (particularly for Rome and when using very heavy infantries).

Yes, Huge. First time I played a campaign on huge, and it's amazing. The battles are bigger, the outcomes more epic, and your movement can cost or reap more benefits than smaller scales.
Yes, I hate the fact RTW is out and I still have a Japanese title. Come on now admins- let's get with the program.

It's not the size that counts, it how you deploy your men that matters . . . That's what my first girl-friend said . . .
