Icon4 Medieval 2 Gold Edition questions

I got the gold edition it comes with medieval 2 and Kingdoms, but i don't know if the game is up to date. when i load m2 it says version 1.02. Is that supposed to be the latest update or do i have to download 1.2 and 1.3? btw, why do some of the units stand still when I order them to attack? or are there still bugs in the updated game?

Game still has a few bugs in it.... as far as units remaining still when ordered to move, in most the cases I've seen, it isn't a bug , but is cause by the game lagging... could be video setting being on high, could be huge armys (the number of units in game) several things cause the game to lag and drag. For the most part, non moving units are caused by lag, or a desync'd game.

Far as the updates go. Can't tell ya, you might try getting into a online multi-player game, if you go to the lobby and the games are all incompatible, you'll need to update with the latest patchs.

It really depends on how you are going to use the game. There is a patch 1.5 (or1.05 depending on notation) to kingdoms.

If you use the Retrofit Mod, this takes the Kingdoms exe code to play (I play the campaign game) in M2TW. This means no additional patching is needed. The Retrofit Mod is really an unofficial "final" patch to M2TW. No other patches are then needed.

Sparty's suggestion is also perfectly good for an approach.

btw, why do some of the units stand still when I order them to attack? or are there still bugs in the updated game?
If you are commanding each unit individually, the do not move if the way is blocked (too many units in too small a space). Some units take a bit longer to visably be moving such as cav which is slower to respond.

I think that the code is not going to see another update. M2TW and Kingdoms are complete as far as the designers are concerned. The effort is now on the next game. The code has a great deal of open access for you to modify if you are so inclined.

Also check out the hosted modifications sections for more information. There is something for everyone there. I am still playing the Campaign game (now using the Retrofit Mod) and quite happy.
