what is "white label" alex expasion

Hey, I have learned that the alex expansion really improves ai for many mods so I have been searching for a copy but so far I have only found UK "white label" alexs, I have gold edition will the "white labels be ok to get?:hmmm: thanks in advance for your time.

I have read some reports that indicate that the White Label versions have some compatabilty problems but I can't confirm that.

I've bought the White Label versions of RTW and RTW BI but have yet to use them as the original discs I have still work OK. My 3 CD-ROM version of RTW and my single CD-ROM are still going strong.

I have found that if I use an install from the original discs I can't use the RTW Gold version disc with that install - I presume that's something to do with registration.

I originally paid for the RTW Alex download version but have subsequently bought RTW Gold II - RTW and RTW Alex on two DVDs. I've been using that version without problem.

If you buy the White Label version of Alexander - please post back to let us know if you've had any problems.

If the game isn't compatible you could always take it back to the shop you bought it from. Even if you bought it on the internet the company should take it back.

I think the main compatablity problems are caused with the various download versions of games - if you've got RTW downloaded then any expansion need to come from the same place. My understanding is that to protect themselves from pirates they may change some files - but don't quote me on that. I like to have a physical disc - you can always take a backup (legally) of that disc.

The Alexander "White Label" is completely compatible with any hard copy version of Rome: TW, whether Sega or Creative Assembly, UK or US edition. I have the White Label edition and use it with my Rome: TW US Gold Edition with NO problems.

Any compatibility issues are with download versions of the games - one hint, just buy a hard copy, it is easier to reinstall, play with etc.

Thanks for the information.

I've just installed White Label RTW on my laptop and had no problems with the install. It's the first time that I've used that version of the game. I had read that there were some issues - but apparently that was rubbish.

I have Alex. TW expansion by itself, but every time I download it and put in the cd key, sooner or later the game asks for the cd key again!

Any solutions to this mess?

So, you have the expansion and the download?

What versions of the game are you trying to use? For example RTW Gold / Eras / White Label.

I ordered the White Label version of Alexander on the wekeend and it's on the way to me today! I did order through play.com though (£7.99).

Hi all,

I have Alex. TW on disk only.

I originally downloaded the game via Steam or Digital Download or something and wanted a disk hardcopy of Alex. TW.

The problem again is:
I install the game, it plays fine and then it asks for a cd key again.
It's like it doesn't "catch."

Hellas,

So you copied the steam version onto a CD? In that case, what could be happening is your CD key is registered, but only as a temporary file which is deleted eventually, after which it asks for the key again. Here, the solution is to get an Alexander CD copy (check eBay)

or, (Alternate reading) you have a Steam version of RTW and a CD version of Alexander, in which case the solution is to buy an RTW CD copy.
