    Default Books

    Hello all,
I am currently loving my Ghorid campaign on my new computer, best campaign ever in mtw2 actually. Actually I am so excited I want to learn everything there is about this period of time and am wanting to purchase some good history books about the muslim world from baghdad and eastwards. Anyone have some good advice? I am used to reading lots of history books and the more scholarly, advanced and indepth the better.

Fedrawsi made some books i think, but he was a poet and dont know weather he wrote historical or not. His shahnameh has some referances to conquest of Persia by Moslem armies.

Yes, Ferdowsi who was a court poet at the court of Sultan Mahmoud Ghaznavi, wrote the book called SHAHNAME or the Persian book of Kings.
If you are interested in that period you should definitely look into it.

Also, Osprey titles are one of the best. Check them too.

Most information on more 'exotic' and transient factions like the Ghorids don't have much in terms of easily purchasable books. Though a great source to at least start investigating through for more historical knowledge I found was Google Books.

Though it's a bit difficult to search due to different variations of spellings for some of the faction names. For info on the Ghorids it's best to search under the spelling of "Ghurid" instead.

    Here are some links:

History of civilizations of Central Asia (Ghurid Topic)
The Delhi Sultanate: A Political and Military History (Ghurid Topic)
The Cambridge History of Iran (Ghurid Topic)
