Default Which is more difficult a faction?

It seems that both France and Spain, as factions in the Grand Campaign, can gradually expand their borders and create empires. But which of these factions is the easiest overrall to succeed in? Which one can most easily complete its Campaign goals?

    Thank You!

The Spanish I'd say for a beginner. It's pretty simple, you take the two rebel cities, get trade rights with everyone. After taking the rebel cities, move unto the muslim provinces in south of the peninsular. Once you're ready, built up and strong, take the Portugese out then you're free to choose your own path from there.

With France, you're surrounded and it takes a lot more work since you're surrounded by power hungry back stabbing factions. Plus their unit roster is a bit crappy with just spearmen and also their cities are not well built up. Bleh best of luck.

I would say Spain as they have less Catholics surrounding them and a good old Reqonquista can get them to dominate Iberia

i would have to vote spain as well because:

    1) you can busy yourself with the moors and the rebels and also quickly take out the portugese (at one point they tend to keep both lisbon and pamplona lightly garissoned -2 to 3 units- so if you have a couple of armies with siege engines -ballistas are enough in vanilla- you can capture both without the pope having a say to it)

after the portugese and the moors are taken care of you can prey upon excommunicated catholics

if you feel adventurous u can go off and capture sardinia and corsica

    2) you have much less enemies surrounding you... as france you will have to face the english, the germans, the danes and the 100% treacherous milanese... and upon occation the spanish and/or portugese so you have to be more careful

    3) as spain all of your starting territories and those that you will initially capture have access to the sea which means a huge income boost later in the game and you are very close to the resource-rich timbuktu region (gold and slaves)

    4) you can recruit what for me is the second best light cavalry unit in this game (i consider horse archers light cavalry) - jinetes. these units own everything (except HA's) early, mid and even late game and you can recruit them in cities and castles !!

    5) i find spanish princesses hawt!!
There is nothing that can match the exuberance of youth.... except of course, wisdom and treachery.

Spain's the easier because their are less threatening neighbors whom are considerably weak at the beginning and once you take the peninsula your set.

Yeah dude, but the problem with Spain is all the religious unrest. Your guys are Catholic, and Imams are always moving into your territory, trying to convert people and whatnot. So long as you get a good hold on trade, then the Moors will probably not backstab you, although I wouldn't guarantee it.

I think the worst for any of them, though, is having to play as the Polish. Just horrible to start out with. As them, I normally push to the south, going for the sea to get a few good ports up.

One of the biggest problems with leadership is that sometimes people mistake strength of force as good leadership, when it in reality shows the opposite.
